Mortgage for the Self Employed - any advice?

Hello all,

Just a question on behalf of a family on a self-employed income. Anyone have any recent luck with a mortgage in this situation? Over 3 years' accounts to support an application..

Looking for best lender, etc. We have a fair amount coming in tax credits atm, so I've heard that may help with some lenders.

Contact an IFA. What might be the best for one self-employed mumsnetter might not be right for you.

If you have 3 years of accounts it shouldn't be a problem that you are self employed, the bank I work for will accept this as proof of income and then you would be treated the same (eg offered same deals) as anyone who is employed, so I assume most lenders would feel the same.

If your accounts are verified by a qualified accounts person you are in a stronger position than if you DIY. We found this - I had been completing my Husband's SA forms (Very straight forward)to save paying fees but it did not carry as much weight with the bank.
