am I entitled to JSA

Hi, I have just walked out of a job due to constant bullying and harrassment from boss. I am not taking matter further due to lack of evidence.

I am starting new job in a month, so is it worth putting in a claim for JSA or will I not get any because I have no evidence that I needed to leave.

I think you can only claim it if youve been sacked. Try doing an online application and they will ring you back.

I don't think you need evidence as such as to why you had to leave, and I think the fact you have found a new job will show that it wasn't just a work shy nature that caused you to leave. You should make an application, even if you aren't entitled to full JSA, they may say you are entitled to hardship payments (which is a pittance, but something at least.) And if you are still struggling, you can apply for (a) crisis loan(s).
It is definitely worth asking if you are going to find it difficult to get through the month.
Well done on finding another job so quickly!

Oh, I was meant to say - you are entitled to JSA if you have left work due to harassment. I'm not sure if you would need evidence of that though. Anyway, it's worth a try. Good luck!

i think they wont give it to you since you are volantarily unemployed

HappyMummyOfOne · 25/02/2011 10:13

You can be sanctioned for upto 26 weeks for leaving voluntarily or being sacked. Given you are not pursuing the employer and have a new job to go to its very unlikely you would be able to claim for the month.

Presumably you have not been paid yet for the last few weeks of work?

You may be able to claim contribution based JSA, but not not income based by the sounds of it - and nothing until all salary has been paid and the time has elapsed that you would reasonably have take to spend the money.
