CTC - using same year income rather than previous

Not sure if my thread title makes sense but hoping someone can help.

Currently get of CTC for 5 month old DD.

Our joint income for 2010/11 will be just over £40k which I think means we will lose CTC for next year, however DH is due to give up work on 1st May to become a SAHD so our income will be considerably less then the £40k threshold.

Is there anyway around this - i.e. using the projected 2011/12 income, as the payments could make a big difference to our income or will we just have to wait until 2012/13 to claim again??

Off to give DD her dreamfeed so sorry if I don't get a chance to respond to any posts tonight.

Thanks

There is a provision for this and I think they call it a 'disregard'. If your income rises or falls by more than a certain amount then the award can be recalculated more quickly than waiting for the next tax year. Contact the tax credit people just before your circumstances change.
