i currently have a loan with provident and am very happy with the repayment etc - dp is off work on sick at the mo and colud be for another 6 weeks and is only getting £68 ssp a week.

So my question is could dh apply for a provident loan ? even though i already have one?

My Mum is Provident Agent sometimes (sick cover)and it is really NOT a great idea! The interest is extortionate. No advice other than to say DON'T GET ANOTHER ONE! My Mum thinks the way they do it is almost criminal... praying on those with low incomes and bad credit history.

Isn't there another way?

there isn't really another way at the mo - dp's wages will be cut from £1400 to £260 this month

WWoTE try and stay away from them, I know you have a loan at the moment from them but try and pay this off and don't be tempted to get another, as has been said already they do pray on people like yourself, on cash loans the interest is criminal, and you dig a deeper hole for your family, I am one of their previous customers going back 7yrs! They will give your dh a loan as they give anyone a loan.

i want to stay away from the them but we're going to be £1100 odd down this month and don;t think we can pay the bills / eat with out

I just typed a post out and it disappeared!

What about increasing your overdraft for 6mths? Funds are available immediately and the interest is minimal..... all done over the phone too!

The Provvy is well known, please don't extend your problems; talk to the CAB and a credit union instead, please, please.

wickedwitchoftheeast · 05/10/2005 12:04

bank won't give us an overdraft.
will speak to dp later about it all -
