Sorry i know i have already asked a couple of things about this but am still unsure.

If i get a xmas job from say mid october to end of december will I actually end up getting any of my wages paid in time for xmas ?? Or will I have to work a month in hand or whatever it is.

Also, I know i have to declare it to Iland revenue cos of tax credits BUT do I have to tell them before xmas ?? Could i ring up after and say i have just worked for 10 weeks or whatever ?? Am just worried that i'll ring and tewll them and they will mess up my tax credits and i'll be left pennyless for xmas >

Anyone know ?

Hoepfully someone else will have a more recent experience than mine to help you .

iirc it depends on your pay terms and the cut off date for the payroll run, so if you were to join, say, at 3rd week of October you may miss an end of October run. So if on monthly terms you'd get 5 weeks worth at end of November. You may be negotiate fortnightly or even weekly payments for seasonal work but it will vary from one company to another and usually you get paid in arrears.

Not sure if it still works the same way but if you suddenly start earning you used to get put onto emergency tax codes which meant you paid a higher amount in tax than necessary and it took a while to even it out, so it might be to your benefit to get it straight from the start. The IR should automatically know that you are earning so you may not be able to avoid telling them for TC purposes.
