i was just wondering if any of use knew how this would work
ive got a lot of debt from over the years ive got a debt advicer who has said my only sensible option is to go bankrupt, now at 24 its defently not something im proud of and now i have my son everythings just gettin so stressfull
i moved into my rented flat about a year ago but didnt have any furniture so i slept on the floor for 9 weeks till i saved for a cheap bed luckily the kitchen was fully equiped with cooker washin machine ect.. but for a sofa and some bedroom furniture i had to resort to taken them out of bright house (high street shop) but this has led me to paying back £25 per week
im a student so live of a student loan meaning when i get paid im £100 straight away to brighthouse and dont get me wrong i no this is my fault and i signed upto it but im really struggling and now my electricity and gas is piling way up
any ideas if i was to file for bankruptcy how this would work with bright house would i still need to pay it? if i didnt will they just come take my stuff
sorry for the long post just in dier need of a mirical like most of us are :(

If you have a local CAB, I'd go there to be sure that bankruptcy and not a DRO is the best option. You can put all your creditors down on the petition. CAB may also be able to find some help towards the DRO/ bankruptcy costs from local charities.

It sounds as if you are really struggling as a student, maybe you need to think about whether you can sustain this at the moment -CAB will advise. You could get advice on benefits and maybe claim Housing and Council tax benefits as well as your Child Tax credits and Child Benefit if you're not already receiving them.

Look out for cheap furniture - near me there are good second hand and charity shops with good quality stuff - Hopefully theres something near you. I loathe Brighthouse, they are vultures.

I really hope things improve for you soon.

Hi, please can you let me know how it all went? we are in the exact sittuation as you have been... we have brighthouse goods consisting of; tv fridge,3 piece suite, washing machine, tumble dryer, 2single beds, stereo system and a mobile phone, yes i know its alot but needs must and when things broke and we were unable to replace them a few yrs ago brighthouse was the only option.
we have tried an iva but have been unsuccesful, our local cba advise bankruptcy, we have now started saving the fee for the courts which is £700 per person which means we have to find £1400.
I am just wondering what will happen to these brighthouse goods??? I have to admit that if these things are taken away then i would probably have nothing in my home! yes i know this is all our fault taking on debt that we have struggled to keep up the repayments on for the past 2 years, we have 3 children 1 of which is disabled, my hubby works but i am unable to as i care 24/7 for my son with the dissability.
I t has got to the point where we are losing so much sleep over this problem and have a huge amount of guilt on us for failing the repayments. any HELP/ADVICE would be greatfully recieved, thanks in advance x

Once you are sorted, get in touch with the nearest Credit Union - if you can save even small amounts you would then be entitled to get loans at reasonable rates, if there is no other way for you to survive. www.scottishcu.org/
