VAT increase and holiday booking question

Wonder if any of you clever people can answer this.

We have a group holiday booking which is mostly paid off now.We were told when it was booked that if we paid before 31st December we would avoid the VAT increase. After that the new VAT rate would be added.

Now - the final little bit of money isn't actually going to be paid until after the new VAT increase comes in - what will VAT be added to - the total holiday cost - or just the amount still owing???

If you have been invoiced before the 31st December, you shouldn't have to pay the VAT increase.

oh - it definitely says \link{http://www.springharvest.org/events/spring-harvest/booking-and-info\here} that the full balance should be cleared by 31st December to avoid the VAT.

Confused

Surely just the bit that you haven't paid yet?

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/01/2011 13:03

that's my gut feeling blametheparents - and what I'm hoping is the correct answer - as it's me that hasn't managed to pay my share of the booking yet - and as such have said I'll pay the extra VAT that is added.

I just want to be sure I know what the hit is going to be before they add it....

Ouch! I hope our collective gut feeling is correct then! Smile

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 02/01/2011 13:09

yes I hope so - not the end of the world if I'm wrong - but if my calculations are right then it's the difference between about £3.80 and £60 - which is the difference between getting it all paid up by the end of the week or the end of the month. Which would be fine in the grand scheme of things - I just want to get it all paid up and out of the way sooner than later.

woohooo - gut feeling was correct - just logged in to check what the balance was now - (will pay it tomorrow) and it's only £3 or so higher than it was when I started the thread.
