for over a year. 78 quid a week too much according to thier calculations. Is that just tought luck, or could it be backdated to wipe out the 1800 arrears that exist that mounted up while they were sorting out how much should be paid?

tough luck they are such a waste of space

expatinscotland · 23/09/2005 10:29

If it's anything like tax credits, I wish you the best of luck in getting that money back. .

gigglinggoblin · 23/09/2005 10:31

get your mp involved.

Fio2 · 23/09/2005 10:31

tax credits have been underpaying us 120 quid a month fgs

charliecat · 23/09/2005 10:36

It was us who didnt tell them our circumstances had changed, you know how you mean to...and then you dont...well over 12 months has gone by and eventually we got all the stuff together so its our fault really.
Are you getting your money back form the TC fio?

Then good luck to you, too, Fio. Funny how they take forever when they're due you money (my husband overpaid his PAYE once, and it was 2 years before he saw the money, no interest, of course), but when YOU owe them they want it yesterday.

nightowl · 24/09/2005 02:52

if you had told them i doubt it would have made a difference. may as well write it on a balloon and let it float gracefully off...........

Surfermum · 24/09/2005 17:07

I'm sorry to say charliecat, I think they will only backdate it to the date you returned the forms for this assessment to them. That's what happened to dh. We did get backpayment and they reduced it from future payments spread over 3 years, so we didn't get a lump sum.

Ironically it was dh's x who asked for a reassessment. Told us she'd "shopped" us and the CSA didnt' know we had a mortgage and a child of our own. We hadn't told them as we didn't want her payments to go down, which is exactly what happened. Talk about shoot yourself in the foot.

jac34 · 24/09/2005 17:13

Yes Surfermum,
Same thing happened with us and DH's x, she was livid!

MascaraOHara · 24/09/2005 17:39

Thje day that joke of an organisation does anything right my ex will probably kill himself.. I can say this as I'm not lucky enough for them to ever actually get anything right!

charliecat · 27/09/2005 19:35

Bumpty Bump for this, if they backdated the 14 months worth of money we would have no debt to them, has anyone had any experience of this or can point me in the right direction of thier dos and donts please.

Have they written to you with the new assessment, Charliecat?

charliecat · 27/09/2005 19:44

Yep, nothing mentioned about arrears or backdating

They should have sent a letter outlining what your weekly payments will be. That will take into account any arrears you're paying off.

That's what dh got. Like I said before his circumstances had changed over a year earlier. We did ask if the changed payments would be backdated to his change in circumstances but they said they will only do that to the point he returned his assessment forms. Sorry I know that isn't what you want to hear.

It might be worth you ringing them and discussing it. Despite what I read about others' experiences dh has almost always spoken to someone sensible and helpful.

charliecat · 27/09/2005 19:58

Weekly payments are 0 which is good good good, but as dp is being made redundant at the end of october theres a bitter sweet taste going on...
