does anyone know anything about contesting late licensing/live music applications? I am pretty mad about all this. I live a stones' throw from a university. ABout a year ago they sent all the local residents a letter apologising for their fresher's ball (which they'd organised without the right permission and which the police had to come and stop because the noise levels were so high) and promising better liaison with the local community. fine. I have just walked past and have seen a notice attached to the university gate - from the council saying that the bar has applied for a late license and live music license - there are no more details. Objections need to be in writing by yesterday!!!! The bloody council send us individual letters when someone wants to build a blumin shed but when the students potentially want to keep us awake all night a crappy bit of paper attached to a gate is considered adequate?? And from the uni side I have no idea what happened to their promise to liaise with us better. . I'm not a stick in the mud and I don't object to students having fun - but I know nothing about what level of sound, how often and how late this involves. how can this be adequate consultation? grrrrrr. It's also not like a bar on a busy street - it's in the heart of an entirely residential area. do I contest the process of the thing (even though it's technically too late). anyone done anything like this?
