Depends how much you will be spending and how secure your job is. e.g. if you could afford to pay it off if you lost your job or are sure you could quickly get another one don't bother with it. If thinking about the debt makes you panic - it's worth it for peace of mind

i had protection on my credit cards, mortgage etc and payed quite a bit for it.
When i was unlawfully sacked for time off with my son due to his now known diabilities, i rung all the insurers of the protection, only to be told that i would have to go to a tribunal in order to claim under being sacked.
I did'ntt have time or energy to do that with everything going on with my son.
i am now £30000 in debt and my mortgage company want to take me to court for repossession, but i wont give up.
Think hard about why you want the card protecting, and ask if it is worth the money.
Check the terms and Cons.

Sorry to sound like a drag, but it has all wrecked my once comfortable lifestyle, only to have debtstyle!!!

credit card cover also only usually pays the min amount each month so if you owe £200 and something happened, it would only pay £5 a month and the interest would build up and up! I think they are a rip off because of this.
The CAB has just launched a major complaint to trading standards about these policies.

I don't touch them with a barge pole. They never pay out. All the big money advice websites (fool and moneysavingexpert for example) say not to bother.

i took credit card insurance out and when I was made redundant they told me I couldnt claim as they only covered full time employees

it depends. After having ds I returned to work and was signed off sick due to mental health problems. My loan protection was paid and still is saving me £212 a month that I just dont have. However I dont know how they would have been if i lost my job in different circumstances. I also regret not having that sickness protection on everything else.

Jampots - if that's the case they misold you the insurance and you should be entitled to your insurance money back. Was it long ago?
