Unauthorised paypal activity

I bought & paid for a small item off ebay last week. It's been delivered & i've left feedback. I looked at my online bank statement today & the seller tried taking the money out again yesterday. I have no agreed overdraft & paypal are going to charge for insufficient funds. I've informed paypal resolution and changed my signing on details. What's going to happen next, I am really worried! I'm bloody skint!

Contact PayPal directly i.e. speak to a real person and not just their online resolution process - call frequently, ask for supervisors if you don't get anywhere with regular staff, demand an immediate drop to the 'charge for insufficient funds' and don't let the sun go down on the problem. E-mail confirmation of conversations including the names of people you've spoken to and keeping a note of times. Provide supporting documents such as copies of bank statements to show that the funds were already paid. Good luck

Have you got a wireless connection to the Internet? Maybe you have been hacked into.

I use my mobile. Thanks for replying.

I called them and now i'm really confused. Apparantly paypal take the money out days after the transaction has gone through! So on ebay it said it was completed, i receive it in the post etc, then they take the money out? Wtf? Well that's just a bloody ridiculous way to do business! Looking forward to juggling my bills to pay the overdraft fee!

That actually makes sense. It's the equivalent of a cheque clearing i.e. a few days between the electronic transaction completing and the money being transferred to the recipient's account.

Its a card payment the same as any other.

It would be different, of course, if you'd paid twice for the same item, which is what your original post seemed to be saying. For the future how about organising a small o/d facility on your account... say £100... just to mitigate against the chance that you temporarily go a little overdrawn if you get the timing wrong again?
