it depends how much deposit you have, what your other monthly outgoings are, where you get your mortgage from!

AlmostAnAngel · 08/09/2005 13:39

I'd estimate that a mortgage for £240k with an average 10% deposit, over 25 years would be in the region of £1350 per month, ish.

Toothache · 08/09/2005 13:41

AAA - Use a mortgage calculator like this

240k mortgage at 5% over 25 yrs is about £1350 per month according to this.

NDP - Great minds!!!!

starlover · 08/09/2005 13:41

we were looking at a £180,000 mortgage and our repayments would be £1085 a month

AlmostAnAngel · 08/09/2005 13:42

thank you

That sounds good, who is it with? We are paying £1,100 for £150,000.

Grin

Windermere - I suppose thats the 'best deal' on the market just now. Don't know who though it's with though. What interest rate are you on??

starlover · 08/09/2005 13:44

argh i can't remember! i looked on moneysupermarket.com

Toothache · 08/09/2005 13:46

Windemere - According to that calculator a 150k repayment mortgage at a rate of 5% interest = approx.£850 per month!!!! Maybe you need to move your mortgage!

Windermere · 08/09/2005 13:47

I think you are right! Is 5% pretty standard then?

mumtosomeone · 08/09/2005 13:48

over 1000 a monthe for 150K that sounds loads to me!! is that including all your insurance though?

NomDePlume · 08/09/2005 13:48

Don't forget that the mortgage rate depends on the deposit % being put down on the property, the smaller the deposit, the bigger the interest rate....

Toothache · 08/09/2005 13:49

Windermere - At the moment thats quite high! Halifax are doing a mortgage fixed rate for 2 years at 4.79%.

starlover · 08/09/2005 13:50

toothache, what calculator are you using?

Tinker · 08/09/2005 13:51

Depends on the length of the mortgage as well (stating the obvious, I know)

ooh sorry, so you did!

Toothache · 08/09/2005 13:55

Starlover - This calculator says £1040, so not far off!

Toothache · 08/09/2005 13:56

Thats with 5% interest.... but there are lower interest rates out there just now.

starlover · 08/09/2005 13:58

yeah... dreading actually going into banks etc and actually sorting the whole thing out really! lol

last time no-one would offer us any more than £130,000 (and we had to have £20,000 deposit)... which will buy us precisely nothing round here!

Tabs · 08/09/2005 14:00

Don't forget it makes a big diff whether you have a repayment or interest only mortgage.

We have £250k mortgage and pay about £1k per month, but that's interest only, and then it's up to us to find a means to repay the capital.
