What help do Job Centres give to help Incapacity Benefit claimants get back to work?

I hear that Job Centres have "Lone Parent specialist Advisers"

Why have Job Centres taken so little efforts to help IB claimants return to work?

Why do Lone Parents get all the help and other people do not get offered appropriate help?

in your thread title you ask 'what help'........then in op you say 'why do they get such little help'

either you know or you don't??

i supposr lone parents get more help as there is only one of them!!!! rightly so!

Did the last government have a Hidden Agenda?

When you read in the papers about all the millions of pounds handed out to disabled people, please do not blame the claimants , but blame the Department for Work and Pensions.

If there are to be Job Cuts in the Public Services, let them sack those workers in Job Centres who have failed to help anyone else.

job centre staff can't be blamed!!

LucindaCarlisle · 19/09/2010 12:07

Yes. They can be blamed, because a lot of them fail to help customers who ask them for help.

There should be a disability employment advisor who works to help people find jobs in every jobcentre.

There is also a permitted works scheme which is quite generous in the amount disregarded. Have a look on direct gov.

Riven - thats digusting. Hope he made a complaint against those staff.

But the disability employment adviser does not invite long term claimants to come in and have an interview with him or her.

People who have been on Incapacity Benefit for more than ten years cannot remember being counselled and offered support.

Even though there MAY be a DEA inside the Job Centre, if a IB claimant asks at reception to see the DEA the claimant is sometimes given the address and phone number of a private contractor ( A&E I think they are called).

They have "bouncers" or security doormen on duty at Job centres. Job Centres do not welcome customers.

I know my dad was made redundant at 59 and placed on IB. They told him they stood no chance of finding him anything and not to bother. He did actually WANT to work.
