Just wondering as we are very seriously considering getting one.

I think it depends on things like the size of the conservatory ... ?

depends on the size, location, if you house is listed/in a conservation area etc - check with your local council

You shouldn't need PP if your conservatory is under 50 cubic metres.

You may need building regulations, but it is possible to have a conservatory design that doesn't need them.

We have just had one and its a large p-shaped one, but its on the back of our house and we haven't had any other extensions either. We didn't need Planning Permission or Building Control - but I did write to the Council to confirm first.

I think that in England and Wales they are exempt, except for if you already have and extention (you get a certain amount of cubic m you can have altogether) or if you can see it from a main road etc. or if it will effect anyone else.

Hope this makes sense.

We didn't - as Ameriscot said - size mattered
