Cheapest/best way to buy flowers?

I really cannot be bothered messing about with flowers for my wedding in a few weeks, I'm making my bouquet myself anyway from scraps of cloth, but I was thinking a few vases with fresh flowers could be nice. I was thinking of just nipping to sainsbos or something on the day, but I'm told this is a daft idea.

So, flowers...any tips of a good place to buy maybe £30-£50 worth? No colour scheme or anything. I'm in the North East (wedding in Gateshead) and have very little patience with browsing, especially IRL. I could possibly give the dreaded task to a passing bridesmaid or something though.

Or even some other way of decorating the place. Must be cheap though.

I have a team of tiny children, teenagers and primary school teachers at my disposal, if that helps.

Try your local wholesale market.. You should be able to cut a deal with a trader for £50 worth of something nicely floral. Other idea... ask guests & neighbours with nice gardens to let you have as many flowers as they can spare. Appoint a couple of willing guests as flower arrangers for the day and you'll end up with some very esoteric displays....

buy the flowers you want 2/3 days before the wedding/event, that way they will be prime, expecially lillies. Store them in a cool spot in buckets. You will get masses for under £50. Send an experienced "woman". Also it will be "job done" leading up to a busy time. Organise your vases in advance and delegate this job, identify where you want them placed. Galdioli are really good value and have just appeared, fantastic, dramatic, simple, tall and colourful if you have tall vases. Big bang for your bucks. Good luck with everything.

Go for £50 worth of tha same type of flower for more dramatic visual impact.
Call your local decent florist to find out what flowers are going to be in season and therefore better value.
You may be able to get them wholesale from your local wholesale flower market-try calling them.
