What's the going rate for feeding a cat?

I'm going on holiday next week and have asked my childminder's daughter (11) to feed my cat as they live nearby. How much should I pay her?

For a week? £10 and bring her a gift back.

I used to feed all our neighbours cats and I never got paid money but did get pressies and the neighbourhood cats used to follow me everywhere.

TrillianAstra · 21/07/2010 21:51

I was going to say a bottle of wine. Maybe not for a 10 yr old.

scurryfunge · 21/07/2010 21:52

I paid a professional cat feeding lady about £25 for a week.

We feed our neighbour's cats, she always leaves a bottle of wine and box of chocs, which I think is lovely of her. I get on bread and milk for her return so she can alwaya have a cup of tea no matter what time she gets back.

Thanks, though not convinced a bottle of wine is the best way forward for a ten year old.

We've agreed that her Mum will decide what an appropriate amount will be when I get back. I think it might be performance related pay. I'll get her a wee present while I'm up in Scotland, who can resist a toy Loch Ness monster anyway?

No one can resist a Loch Ness monster, where do you live? I'll feed your cat for a Nessie.

navyeyelasH · 22/07/2010 22:15

If you're anywhere in Bristol we could do a cat feeding swap as I need someone to feed mine for me!

QueenofWhatever · 22/07/2010 22:39

I am in Bristol! Horfield, off Glos Road.

Might thave to start bulk buying fluffy Nessies...

Damn it...To far . No tartan Nessie for me....

navyeyelasH · 23/07/2010 14:28

oh wow that's quite close to me, I'm near the Lake in Henleaze if you know it? When are you off on hols as we could do a cat feeding swap if you wanted??

indie37 · 23/07/2010 14:32

I pay £5 per feed, but then we do have three and childminders son has to make sure he can see all three before he leaves. It's easy money I know, but peace of mind for me.

Performance Related Pay seems harsh for an 11 year old. Will it be triggered by an appraisal process? Have you established appropriate, smart targets? Are they documented? I suspect you haven't thought the whole thing through.
