Sorry - I started a thread for your book as I didn't see one

Just finished the book today - it was an engaging read but I think in the end it was just a mismash and a very ho-hum mystery and love afair...

What did you think of the book??

Ah, bless you, Dysgu for liking my book! I know everyone's tastes differ and it's fine to dislike each other's books but it has been slightly demoralising!

Interestingly I haven't read Remains of the Day or Upstairs Downstairs either so maybe that's why I enjoyed it more. And yes, I did choose it more for its page turning qualities than it being a literary great.

Hope you're enjoying Memoirs of a Geisha. I read it years ago and it was almost my book of choice for this group. I was only put off by the fact that I wouldn't have had time to re-read it before the start of the swap (my actual book was a more recent read hence the preference). I found it fascinating and the whole world/life of a geisha hugely intriguing.

ooh Memoirs of a Geisha is a wonderful book! It made me want to go to Japan although the cruelty experienced by the main protagonist was dreadful.

Hello. I feel quite ho hum about this one, it was an ok read, but not a huge favourite for me - I read it quite quickly, and it is a bit of page turner, but I did get a bit annoyed with it - I felt some characters were just left hanging there, or had been included for no good reason, and there were far too may coincidences for my liking. Saying that, I did enjoy it, if that makes sense!
