I read this a while ago, and it stayed with me. The situation became a nightmare so rapidly, and it really made me think.

APthis was a really interesting book, very unlike anything I have read before ....... which is a good thing.

Definitely one I would not have chosen for myself so thanks for the chance to experience it

I have always considered countries very fascinating and the Isreali/Palestine conflict is no exception. The book gives an insight into the lives of Arabs living in Isreal and what is happening to them and their villages, it is beautifully written and quite a shock to realise that food/water can be taken away so easily and quickly.

It is one of those books that stays with you long after having finished it.

I have just finished this book - I only started it yesterday but I found the story gripping and wanted to know what was happening and how it would all end.

It is an interesting, first person narrative that actually gives very few specific details. Not knowing the names of any of the main characters and several key locations I guess makes it rather universal in its setting.

The way characters change as the situation worsens is well told and the ending, which seems to come about rather quickly, left me wondering about what happened next.

This is probably not the sort of book I would have chosen to read myself - so thank you AP - to be honest, I am not even sure if I enjoyed the book; I did not feel much involvement with the narrator much of the time and it did make me question my level of understanding of the Israeli/Palestinian situation - however, it was certainly a gripping, interesting read.

Agree that this was very gripping but there was something a bit cold and detached about the narration - perhaps something to do with the lack of names (which I hadn't noticed, haha, nappybrain). It also made me want to understand more about the conflict which I had always assumed was 'just' Palestinians vs. Israelis but of course nothing is ever that simple.

It certainly made me think - we take so much for granted, it seems incomprehensible to us that water, food, phones, power etc. could suddenly disappear. But that could happen anywhere if circumstances changed. Chilling.
