I couldn't find a thread for this book JW, sorry if there is already one i have missed.

Well, let me say THANKYOU for joining OMAM book swap. That was one of the most enjoyable books i have read in ages (not including LAdyBee's which i LOVED)

It was so believable - even when supernatural things were occuring!

sorry baby is crying got to go, but THANKYOU - wonderful book!

SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU ARE SNOOPING -

YES I MEAN YOU!

Im back. Now, i am one of the few people who will admit to liking Dan Brown and Kate Mosse - i love a rollocking adventure, and im a bit of a fast, skim reader so i know i miss nuances in other "well written" books.

I suppose what i am getting at, is that i dont know whether i loved it in a "wow what a page-turner" way or for more cerebral reasons!! There was certainly a lot of history in it, and lots of 'book appreciation' which i enjoyed. It was odd reading about how difficult it was to get into Hungary and Romania; places i have been to a few times with nary a problem.

So what was the point of those blank (apart from scary image) books 'HE' wrote? To try to find the best librarian/researcher possible to catalogue his collection? Seems a bit of a faff. Smile And why print that particular number - just to coincide with the year of his supposed death? Not complaining, just wondering.

However, i enjoyed it SOO much! The next lucky person can read it on halloween Shock

hi - it was a page turner! I was always keen to get back to it and I'm missing it now - I need another rip-roaring adventure!! I must admit I haven't read the Twilight or any other vampiry type books (that seem so popular with the Yoof of today (and my ex-boss who is not especially yooffull)), but I get the impression that this was more true to the Bram Stoker tradition than those would be, so presumably isn't in the same genre really.

I do like it when academics turn out to be super-brave heroic types!! It takes quite a flight of fancy to imagine any academic I know in real life being a crack shot with a silver bullet or wrestling a vampire to the ground. Except for DP of course Wink

Evil librarians, I've known a few of those however...
