Oooooh Shiny new thread!!!!
Loved my book 'notes from an exhibition' really enjoyed reading for pleasure (after a 3 year degree).

I would give it an 8, although the story was fab, bipolar as a subject matter was pretty morbid. I learnt from it and am currently reading Adrian Mole the Cappuccino Years and laughing at all the bits i had forgotten and reading as a parent know, i'm seeing it in a new light, keep um coming

Evening Ladies, nowit have posted the next book to you today so should be with you in a day or two, although it was very cheap as the post office lady gave me the £2 back to buy the children an icecream ! which was very kind so if it doesnt arrive thats why but i did see her put the sticker on ! think it was just a kind thing to do.

Sorry meant to review before I posted but here goes

Have finished the Anne Tyler "Back When we were grownups" I have had a horrid week and this really helped keep me sane, it is a easy read about a family, that kept me gripped and absorbed for the whole read. A few unanswered questions at the end but on the whole I would give it a good 7.

I enjoyed the Capuccino Years and like nowit enjoyed reading it on another level both as parent but also now that era of New Labour has gone was interesting to read it from another perspective. It is still funny and stood the test of time. Again an easy seven.

I've had two so far and I'm ashamed to say I didn't read the second one before I sent it on - just ran out of time!!

Anyway... first one was Noughts and Crosses, Malorie Blackman. Hmmm. Not really my kind of book, bit too thinly veiled black vs. white teenage story. Struggled to get through it a bit. I did read it a LONG time ago now though!

Second one I can't recall the name of Blush but I promise to try harder with this third one which I'm ploughing my way through now.

How is everyone else getting on?

Just finished the pursuit of happiness - a good yarn over 500 pages long so will keep you busy for a while.
A bit Hmm about some of the storyline but couldn't wait to finish it so must have enjoyed it overall. Smile
Am going to try again with the friday night knitting club - have started this one about three times and can't get very far but will try one last time before i send it on.

Have finished the pursuit of happiness, was a great story, a well thought through story, just a great family story. Really enjoyed it although I thought the ending was a little fast and not as good as the rest of the book. I zipped through it and like sharbie could not wait to finish !!

Will post on asap and read the other one I was sent !

I know this thread is old but I've just joined mumsnet!

I have just finished "The Help", not normally my type of read but found this a real page-turner. I'm in that space where I'm missing the characters and almost don't yet want to start another book until I've put a bit of distance between us!

Would HIGHLY recommend, loved it!!
