What to expect after MC

Hey all,

I had a MC at 7 weeks last weekend and reading what other people have to say on here has been a big comfort during a difficult time. However I am stressing about the visit to gynae tomorrow as I've spent my life avoiding hospitals and being poked about - I have no idea what to expect and it's making me really anxious. I know they want to do an internal ultrasound which I am not looking forward to. I am still bleeding quite a lot so I think that might be really messy (sorry, TMI) but is it likely that they will want to do anything else?

Thanks in advance.

they will prob do a transvaginal ultrasound to make sure that everything has gone. it is very fast, and not uncomfortable (not like a smear for eg) just a sort of round headed probe up there.

they are used to the mess and you shouldn't worry one bit about that!

they will ask you the date of your last period, whether your cycles are regular and stuff like that. they may want to see you again in a week or so.

I'm so sorry that you're going through this, it's awful but i promise you will get through it.

I miscarried last year at 7 weeks and was utterly devastated. I'm not 30 weeks pregnant and although nothing will make up for the baby I lost, I really think with acceptance of your feelings and if you allow yourself to really greive you will find hope and joy again.

xxx

With both my mcs I never had a transvaginal scan - both were relatively early - c7 weeks and at about 9 weeks. Follow up appointments just consisted of normal ultrasounds.

Hope everything goes OK for you, if and all the best if you decide to try again (I had DD2 after my mcs - problem free pregnancy - shes dashing up and down the hall in her walker as I type)

Thank you so much - that's definitely set my mind at rest a bit. Definitely planning on trying again once this is all over (as soon as we feel up to it psychologically), DH is 41 this year so need to TTC before he gets too old to run around after any kids we manage to have!!
