Support from a mother?

How does the mother of a son support him and his partner over their 2nd mc?

I'm at a bit of a loss as he tells me that all the sympathy messages that i passed on from friends and family last time didn't help.

I get the feeling that he doesn't want to talk - but am worried about this....

Can I help?

Thanks

maybe don't pass on or gather 'all the sympathy messages'? sometimes that can be a bit much during what is for a lot of people a private time. they maybe don't want their business discussed amongst lots of family and friends.

I think you are right - this time no-one else knows so there won't be any. But am wondering how to be?

Do I express any sympathy or simply act as tho nothing has happened?

I don't want to cause more upset - but equally don't want to seem as tho I don't care.

Just want to get it right...

i think it's lovely that you're thinking about it so carefully and you sound like the kind of mother any son would adore.
I would just ask gently how he/they are feeling, and if there is anything you can do (the answer will almost certainly be no but at least you are offering.) If the shutters come down, don't be offended - just emphasise that you are thinking of them and are there any time they want to talk.

So sad.

I would just tell them that you understand it is a difficult time and that they might want to be left alone, but if they need you then just to give you a shout.

That way you have acknowledged the miscarriage but have given them the option of space if they want it.

I had a miscarriage and all I wanted was space - for at least a couple of months.

thank you - i think i hav done wot u hav already suggested - i just don't want to get it wrong.

wen it is ur kids u want 2 take the pain away - but u can't.....

i keep faith that one day, wen the time is right - it will happen.
