Baths after M/C?

I think I have stopped bleeding today and really, really fancy a hot bath. I understand there is a chance of infection but wondered whether this is the case if I don't use any products (shampoo, etc).

Does anyone know?

Hello.

I was only told not to have a bath for 48 hours. I have looked this up on different websites and read leaflets. Most don't mention it at all. But some say it's best to wait until bleeding stops. I don't think it depends on if use any saop or that. Think it is more likely to be bacteria in bath or on your body maybe.

Thanks Jenny. Next question - do you know when it is safe to resume excercising? Running, etc? Assume it's just when I feel up to it?

I was going to ask my doctor that yesterday but i forgot. I would think it is when you feel up to it. I used to do spinning but think I will wait a little longer for that. Just take it easy to begin with and see how you get on.

Thanks again - I think I should have asked more questions!!

Did you get any advice about when to start TTC again, if you want to? The sonographer said to wait one cycle but tbh I feel ok emotionally, and would prefer not to 'waste' a month IYKWIM? Have you come across any info that says that the reason to wait is for physical, rather than emotional reasons? And do you - or anypne know - if the advice differs if you have had an EPRC vs. a natural miscarriage?

Sorry that you've been through this too btw .

I was never told that about baths and distinctly remember having one - I felt so icky and dirty after sitting round leaking all over the floor in A&E, the thought of infection never crossed my mind - no hard done.

As for trying again immediately - I'm sure the only reason is so that they have a last period date with which to accurately date the new pregnancy - if you were lucky enough to conceive again straight away, you might otherwise have an agonising few days of wondering if you are dealing with left over pg hormones or a new pregnancy. I would wait to TTC till you test and get a BFN.

In terms of exercise, after an early MC, I went back more or less straight away. After a 12 week one, I went back after 2 weeks, which was probably too soon as I felt very weak. Exercise is a great mood lifter, so I'd be inclined to try it if you want to, but don't push yourself too hard.

I was told by my Doctor at hospital and GP to wait until I had had 1 period. My GP said this is to be sure that the lining of the womb/cervix? has thickened again to be able to hold a new pregnancy. But I have done alot of research on this which seem to say that there is only little evidence that you are more likely to have another mc if ttc straight away. I am pretty sure I am going to wait for first period although it might be a long way as I'm still spotting and showing positive on pregnancy test 3 weeks after erpc.
