I am miscarrying at the moment - I had a pill yesterday at the hospital and I'm supposed to go in tomorrow morning for the rest of the treatment. I am cramping quite severely and have just had a gush of bright red blood (sorry if tmi). The hospital said that if there was a lot or pain I should go in but I don't want to because they would keep me in overnight - I'd have to go alone as DH would hav to stay with our dds and I just want to be with my family. I'd rather ride it out at home for as long as I can. Is there any real reason that they want me in or are they just playing safe, do you think?

Any advice/experince would be welcome.

mc does hurt a bit, like severe period cramping, and the blood loss can be a bit alarming

So sorry to hear your news

I think the rule is if you need to change your pad in under an hour then you should call them. If you can manage the pain with painkillers and you have your DH to support you then I think you're better off at home. AS LONG AS you're not bleeding too much.

I had a natural mc at home and was shocked by the blood loss and cramping - like mini contractions. However it did pass quite quickly and then came and went in waves. Hope this helps. If you're in any doubt just call and ask their advice.

Am sorry you are going through this. Its so hard.

Having had 2 mc in the last year or so at 8 and 11 weeks, I can understand you wanting to stay at home. Just watch your blood loss. If its becoming worrying go in. With my last one, I was losing too much blood and was glad to be in hospital for them to keep an eye. I ended up with an EPRC to curtail it.

I hope you feel better soon. Take care.

Thank you - I did phone them in the end and they said the same about changing the pad and that they were quite happy for me to stay at home as long as the blood loss was okay. The cramping is coming in waves now as you said and is a little more manageable.

Poor you. Glad to hear you're at home though, as I'm sure you're more comfortable there. Have you got some decent painkillers? I found Feminax pretty good (they contain paracetamol and codeine).

So sorry you're going through this. You'll be ok. xx
