First appointment for tests

I've just received the date of my first appointment for investigative stuff for recurrent mcs (3 in a row now). I'm seeing a 'nurse practitioner' in the the gynaecology department (naively thought that I'd be seeing a consultant ) and I was wondering what to expect and whether my dh will need to come. He's working abroad most of January and I'll need to reschedule the appointment if he's needed for tests too.

Or does nothing really happen at the first appointment?

hi tinselandglitter
you won't need your husband for any tests other than genetic tests where they take blood of both of you. at my first appt I did see a consultant (he was awful though and didn't explain even after asking - Dr Sanusi in Hemel Hempstead, I wouldn't recommend him) who then prescribed all the tests. I went on my own. I was referred to a nurse for initial blood tests, then to see GP with dh for furhter blood tests to be sent for genetic analysis. I was also referred to hospital for scanning. I was given a follow-up appt 3 months later to discuss all test outcomes.
good luck!

Thanks for that butterfly, hope that you're feeling a little better today and more positive about trying again.

Hiya, I went down a different route as my 3rd occured while I was under investigation for other gynae problems anyway. So cant really advise on what they will do at initial appointment but hope you can get some answers.

Thanks, managed to speak to the sister at the unit and she was really helpful and reckons that they can start test without dh, but that he'll need some tests when it's convenient.

Fingers crossed and I'm determined for good news next year.
