Am currently MCing my 3rd. Whats wrong with me, why cant I carry a baby?

I had no idea I was preg this time, just started having horrific pains, bleeding and clotting yesterday and went to hosp, got transfered to a gynae ward and they found low levels of hcg.

Poor baby had no chance I have been drinking, around smoke, taking lemsip, taking ibuprofen, and worst of all perhaps taking the pill - i think i must have JUST been preg when I started it, letting friends los jump on me and not being gentle with sex - poor poor baby I didnt give it a chance, if I had known id have done things so differently.

anyone had diarrhea while mcing? i have it bad today too wondering if its the hormones? or coincidence?

None of these things would have affected your pregnancy at that early stage, so please don't beat yourself up over it, the sex, lo's jumping o n you, even smoking and drinking would not make you miscarry.

A very high percentage of pregnancies end in m/c and most of the time you dont even realise or ever know.
Have you had a healthy baby???(sort of assuming as you are on here)

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I had 3 miscarriages in a row - trying to conceive my second child. However, at the 4th attempt it worked and i now have a healthy 4 year old. I realise it's hideous and nothing I can say will help, but it's nothing you did and nothing you are doing wrong. Take care.... oh and diarrhoea is common I'm afraid...

pud1 · 22/06/2008 13:40

please dont blame yourself. i know how hard it is but you are not to blame.

cmotdibbler · 22/06/2008 13:41

I'm so sorry. I had 3 mcs in a row before having my DS, so I've been in that place.

Nothing you've done could cause you to miscarry, so please don't blame yourself.

The diarrhea is probably to do with the hormones and the cramping.

BandofMothers · 22/06/2008 13:42

I quit smoking both times with the dd's as soon as I did a test so was actually smoking during the first few weeks I guess, it really can't cause it, this happens to many women and you weren't to know. And tbh it wouldn't have made any difference I suspect if you had acted like a saint. PLease don't blame yourself, I know it is hard, I had a m/c of my first pregnancy before dd's, and I know many women do and then have healthy babies.

bananasandwich · 22/06/2008 13:58

thanks.

do you think its ok to take some immodium? its bad enough having to keep going to toilet to change pads but this too...

also do you think mothercare sells maternity pads? theres one right beside me and i need them not the normal pads as am losing too much for them. but dont want to take myself in there if its unlikely they sell them. hosp gave me some but they are almost done

BandofMothers · 22/06/2008 14:00

go to wilko's or superdrug, or even m most supermarkets sell mat pads, or just get the biggest size you can.

I would think immodium wil be fine.

cmotdibbler · 22/06/2008 14:00

Its fine to take immodium.

Mothercare def sell maternity pads, but remember that if you are soaking one normal pad an hour, you need to go back to the hospital.

bananasandwich · 22/06/2008 14:06

thanks. its one of the hosp maternity ones every 2-3 hours just now. have got the phone number of the ward, it was definetly at its worst yesterday morning. i live 2 mins from a mothercare and a morrisons so il try the morrisons first then, and if not il brave mothercare.

BandofMothers · 22/06/2008 14:13

I Hope you find some in Morrisons then as Mothercare would be upsetting, sorry you are going through this.

ChocolateEclair · 22/06/2008 15:06

so sorry you are going through this bananasandwich. I too have been having a MC this week. One thing that has made me feel just a tiny bit better was a colleague who told me that it is so common, and I didn't do anything wrong. MC almost always happen due to egg + sperm not fusing correctly (chromosomal problems) - not from drinking, smoking, exercise, the pill, medicine etc. Once I took that on board, I have found it easier. Hope things get easier for you too soon. (and yes, I think morrisons would be fine)

bananasandwich · 22/06/2008 15:51

thanks choc, sorry to hear of your mc

Oh banana I'm sorry.

Don't blame yourself. I drank and wasn't careful in early pregnancy several times. Most of us did. It doesn't mean that YOU lost the baby. That's extremely unlikely.

I'm so sorry. I hope it goes as well as possible and you can perhaps say 'Goodbye' somehow which would help you move on.

I 'caught' the sac during one of my miscarriages and was able to bury it in the garden. Very helpful.

God bless you and your little one.

kd73 · 22/06/2008 16:04

Please banana don't blame yourself, it is such an easy thing to do. I am currently 15wks with 3rd pg, previous 2 having ended in m/c. I did nothing different but the previous 2 ended. I don't why I miscarried - bad luck I suppose, I do know that I badly wanted the pg to continue and I know that I didn't deserve the miscarriage and neither do you.

Bananasandwich and ChocoloteEclair, look after yourselves, I understand its a horrible time.

WorzselMummage · 22/06/2008 17:24

so sorry your going thought this please dont beat yourself upi about it being your fault though, it wasnt !
