Recurrent miscarriage help

Hi everyone,
I’d really appreciate some advice as I’m feeling a bit stuck and not sure what to do next. I’ve had two consecutive miscarriages (around 10 weeks and 5 weeks). The main issue doesn’t seem to be getting pregnant, as I can conceive fairly quickly, but I’m struggling to stay pregnant, so I’m now looking into recurrent miscarriage investigations privately.
I’ve already had some NHS blood tests done and most things came back normal, apart from slightly low vitamin D and a thyroid level of around 3.7.
I recently had a consultation with Dr Shazia Malik at The Portland Hospital, and I’m a bit unsure how I feel about it. She was kind, but the appointment felt quite unstructured and I didn’t come away with a clear plan. The suggestion was basically to do a scan and then possibly some blood tests later, but there wasn’t a clear timeline or a more comprehensive investigation plan, which is what I was hoping for given I’m going private. It also felt a bit slow, and I wasn’t really asked about when I’m hoping to try again or how to plan around that.
I’m now trying to decide whether to continue with her and just be more direct about what I want, or whether it would make more sense to move to a clinic like CRGH (Centre for Reproductive and Genetic Health) or Harley Street Fertility Clinic.
What I’m really looking for is somewhere that takes a more structured and proactive approach to recurrent miscarriage, ideally with a clear investigation pathway and also good early pregnancy support next time, as both losses happened in the first trimester. At the same time, I don’t want to be pushed straight into IVF if that’s not actually necessary.
If anyone has experience with Malik, CRGH or Harley Street, I’d really appreciate hearing how you found them, especially in terms of how thorough and organised they were and whether you felt properly supported early on in pregnancy. I’d also be very open to other London recommendations if there’s someone particularly good for recurrent miscarriage.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate any advice.

The problem OP is that really they often can’t give you a concrete plan until they start. It may be that the very first tests show a problem that can be solved, it may be that they don’t and so you move onto the next set of tests, then the next- they really can’t tell you what is going to be done until you start. The scans & bloods are the usual first steps and from there you either have an answer or you figure out how to keep looking.

They also don’t know how to support early pregnancy next time until they have a problem to solve.

One of my best friends was treated by Malik and her rainbow baby is now 6 months old, she rated her very highly. Good luck x

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it. Can I please ask whether your best friend also had the recurrent miscarriage issues? Thanks

I had treatment for recurrent miscarriages alongside my ICSI treatment. I had 5 miscarriages. I paid for Chicago Tests, which discovered a number of problems. I had 1 successful pregnancy after treatment.

Can I recommend a book you may find useful? Dr Beers - Is your body baby friendly?

She did yes. She had 3 miscarriages and was on the waiting list for NHS recurrent miscarriage investigations but went privately because they didn’t want to wait the 10+ months it was going to take x

I have heard good things about Westminster Women’s Clinic
