Hope after two miscarriages

Would love to hear some positive stories after two losses. Had one MMC found at 12 week scan last year surgically managed and have had a second miscarriage this year at 6 weeks.
If you had success, did you do anything differently?

We had three miscarriages and were referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic. They found that one of DH’s chromosomes was upside down in the pair, but the other was the right way so if the wrong one paired up it would result in miscarriage. So 50/50 odds.

However we suffered a further three miscarriages so six in total. We were then referred to St Mary’s in London. I had a load of tests done and the upshot was I had to take daily aspirin as soon as I got pregnant. It worked DD our miracle baby is now 14.

I’m sorry you are going through all this, it’s utterly heartbreaking, my ‘eldest’ would have been 19 in November. There is hope.

I had 3 miscarriages (8 weeks, 10 weeks, and one very early). Got referred to the specialist who couldn't find anything wrong, then got pregnant again with a healthy baby. 2 more healthy babies in quite quick succession. Just unlucky I guess. So sorry, it's hard xx

I had two - one at 7 weeks and one at 16 weeks. I was 40 when I had the second so was referred to St Marys earlier than normal because of my age and the lateness of the second miscarriage. In the months before the appointment came through I gave up a stressful job ( which I appreciate I was lucky to be able to do) and conceived the month before the appointment. I had DS1 8 months later and then DS2 16 months after that, both very straightforward pregnancies and births. I wish you the very best for future pregnancies OP.

Yes, similar timings to you too. The only thing I did differently was take low-dose aspirin the third time around. For many years I thought that made the difference. But I did have another miscarriage after the third pregnancy resulted in my first baby and was taking it then too, so not so sure if it was just a coincidence. Might be worth talking to your gp though? Psychologically I felt like I was doing something ‘different’ third time around by taking it and that helped a bit.

I know it can feel so heartbreaking and disheartening, but I hope you gain some hope from positive outcome stories from myself and others. Best of luck.

I had three, was referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic but found out I was pregnant before my appointment with them. Mine were all early losses, I was prescribed cyclogest by my GP and I’m convinced it helped me have a healthy pregnancy.

After my son i had 2 miscarriages and 1 chemical in a row. I decided to try low dose aspirin. It isn't recommended to start until 12 weeks usually but I wasn't getting that far so I had nothing to lose. I started it as soon as I had a positive test. I'm now 28 weeks with a little girl!

I had one MC, then DC1, another MC then DC2, a chemical pregnancy then a MC then immediately fell pregnant after the surgery before my period returned and I’m now 26 weeks pregnant. No cause found for the MCs. Don’t give up hope!

Toddlertiredp · 16/04/2026 21:24

I had two then got pregnant with my DS. Honestly did absolutely nothing different. I had another miscarriage between and then had twins!

I know lots of women with similar stories and fingers crossed yours will be too. It’s a horrible time but still a lot of hope left.

My GP was incredibly helpful and did bloods and a scan after my second miscarriage even though you usually wait for 3 so always worth asking.

Three losses in a row (two MMCs and one IVF early loss) before I had my daughter. I found out my vitamin D levels were very, very low so started taking a high dose of that plus aspirin and progesterone from 3dpo.

Confusedmermaid1 · 16/04/2026 21:33

I had 3 (one very early then 2 MMC needing intervention) before having my DD in Jan. I did a low inflammatory diet before getting pregnant with DD and I had progesterone from 6 weeks (had this in the previous pregnancy which I lost as well) and low dose aspirin from 12 weeks. I’m not sure any of it actually helped or if I was just lucky with DD. One of my blood results came back slightly abnormal but there was no other ‘cause’ for the MC. I think unfortunately it’s just a numbers game for a lot of women. I hope everything works out for you soon, it’s heartbreaking. Good luck 🤍

I had one MMC, then an early MC. Then fell pregnant and was put on low dose aspirin and Dalteparin for suspected antiphospholipid syndrome. Have a healthy rainbow baby now and APS blood test came back positive. Wishing you all the luck, I've been where you are and it's horrible and soul destroying. Similar to @Toddlertiredpmy GP did tests after the second because I was a demanding pain in the arse requested every test I could think of which is how I got my first positive test for APS.
