I don’t know if this is the best place to post, I have a history of multiple loses back to back (4) with the most recent being February this year. We found out we were expecting a few weeks ago and were over the moon, however scans today have confirmed it’s an ectopic pregnancy and I’m due to have surgery tomorrow morning as they’ve said my hcg is far too high for medical management and would require surgery. I just wanted to ask if anyone had been through this and if so how they found the surgery / aftermath with recovery? They’ve told me I’ll lose the effected tube which I’m finding really hard to come to terms with, the loss of baby on top just seems like so much to try and process at once, I feel scared and confused :/

Hi I have had ectopics and lost both my tubes. The surgery itself is absolutely fine - it was the mental part after. As we really wanted a baby and that was hard . So sorry you’re going through this.

Recovery- the day after I was out and about again like normal as it’s just key hole.

Thank you for sharing your experience and I’m so sorry that you’ve had to go through what you have 🖤

I know the mental side of this is going to destroy me when it registers, I think I’m somewhat in shock at the moment and it haven’t hit me, but it’s reassuring to know the physical side is tolerable x

Yes I had 3 ectopic operations and after each one I was up and about like normal the day after. But I found the emotional side really hard - I wonder if you could get counselling to help. I’m not sure as it’s horrible. I used
to see people pregnant when I was due and I couldn’t cope . It’s quite traumatic and I think its ok to say that and feel it

I had counselling after my mmc in February, and well it was somewhat helpful, it also wasn’t at the same time if that made sense? Much like you I’d get incredibly upset seeing pregnant people around me, even if I was just going to the shop and saw someone with a pram or bump, I feel the mmc really traumatised me and I’m terrified mentally this experience will too. But I also know when the initial grief (if I’m allowed to call it that?) begins to set in, I’ll have no choice but to navigate it.

I'm truly grateful that you’ve shared your experiences, it makes me feel less lonely and isolated so thank you x
