misoprostol after miscarriage, did it work for you?

Hey, I had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks. I decided to have the miscarriage medically managed because nothing was happening naturally.
I was worried about the risk of scaring and adhesions from an MVA so decided to use the misoprostol after a does of mifepristone.

Well, since taking them nothing much has happened. It's been seven hours. I called the epu and they say wait two weeks take a pregnancy test, if positive then we will book you in. They won't give me any more tablets or see me sooner.

What have other people's experiences been with this method? Is this normal? Am I the 20% where it didn't work? I just expected something, you know?

Now it's just another two weeks of waiting and not moving on.

so sorry you’re going through that. I had an MVA two weeks ago after a MMC at 8 weeks and had to take misoprostol 2 hours before it as part of that process. I was passing a lot of blood/clumps within 20 mins of the tablet dissolving and by the time I got to hospital for the procedure it was 90% done.

a totally different set of circumstances, but didn’t want to read and run. Sending lots of love x

How are you doing @KookyMauveRobin I had the same treatment last month, and it took about 6 or so hours for things to get started. But the EPU did say to call if it didn’t work & I’d go back in for another dose. That sounds extremely unfair of them to just leave you to wait 2 weeks

Hey, thanks for asking. I'm glad to hear it helped for you. Do you know if it completed things for you?

For me, nothing has happened. Wait is was still Six weeks until this morning where after a lot of work it seems I can now go in as an inpatient.
Have tried change hospitals but that's not possible as I've just spent the morning finding out.
I only managed with a lot of calls and other people's help to get an inpatient appointment this week to have four tablets again. With the possibility of having an extra four if the first set didn't work
If I'm lucky I might get a side room instead of being on a ward.
Eight tabs is the limit though and this time no mifepristone, apparently you only get one of those and I had that with the first set.
I wonder what the odds are of this working?

Oh I’m sorry nothings happened 😔 I think mine has completed, I’m almost negative on tests now. I’ve also had previous losses and have done medication twice before this & it all completed then too. But I know there are stats on it not working for some people.
I’m glad you are being seen again, but it’s so bad that it’s taken a lot of effort on your part for them to agree to it. Just leaving you is not fair at all. I have also had a d&c, so if for some reason the medication doesn’t work again, the d&c was no where near as scary as I was thinking & was totally fine with a very quick recovery

I'm so glad to hear it went well.
Surgery is likely the next step for me..what was it like for you?
My main fear of surgical was scaring and adhesions.
My hospital does MVA with out ultrasound guidance which is apparently normal in NHS. The other one where you are under general anaesthetic they use a camera.
I wish I knew how likely the risk of adhesions etc was in real life and how many people went on to concieve after one. I think statistics are pointless. Less that 1% is in the leaflet but what does that translate to in real life I wonder.

It was honestly fine. The d&c was my second loss and I’ve gotten pregnant twice since (I think these recent losses were nothing to do with the d&c) I was under general so they did an ultrasound so they could check they got everything. The recovery after is very easy
