TTC after miscarriage with PCOS

Hi everyone

I have just found out I am miscarrying at 5 and a bit weeks. I am currently off work and am devastated. This would've been my first.

I have PCOS and we conceived on Clomid. I know PCOS is probably the reason I miscarried.

I am keen to start ttc again, even though my nurse has said I should wait for my next period, have that, then wait for another period, then start ttc. As I have PCOS that could be ages away as my periods are irregular.

I was just wondering if there was anyone on here, who has PCOS, has micarried and then gone on to have a healthy, successful pregnancy straight after.

I could really do with hearing positive stories right now. I know m/c is common and I was kind of expecting it as I had spotting for about a week. I'm still gutted though as we want a baby so much.

sjw1977, im sorry to hear you are miscarrying
i dont have pcos but it took me 2 yrs to get pg just to mc at 11wks(mmc at 6wks)..i know how you feel abt wanting a baby so much..
i think its alright for you to want to ttc as soon as possible as i am doing it as well after my mmc last month.
hope you are taking lots of rest and hopefully can ttc as soon as you are emotionally n physically better.
xx hugss xx

yup, i was told i had pcos. never cared since I figured we'd never have kids anyway...and now i'm 6 months pregnant. but i do have to mention we've have 2 horrendous miscarriages before this pregnancy.

Thanks ladies.

Been to the hospital this morning for another blood test! I asked if I could start my Clomid again on my next period and she said that was fine so I'm glad about that.

Eandz - did you conceive naturally then or with fertility drugs?

Feeling better as the days go by.

I've never used drugs except to avoid pregnancy and for some reason I have always conceived on dianette.

each and every time. i kid you not.

just wondering if your in st johns wood...? because i am.

youknownothingofthecrunch · 06/06/2008 10:49

I had a miscarriage, then found out I had PCOS. I did conceive ds2 naturally (ds1 was had before I got PCOS), but it took a couple of years because I wasn't ovulating most months.

SJW1977 · 06/06/2008 19:10

St Johns Wood?! Never heard of there before? Is it in Derbyshire?

Well got the results from my blood test this morning and my HCG is back down to 0 already!

Hopefully my next period won't be too far away and I can start Clomid again.

youknownothingofthecrunch - encouraging to hear you conceived naturally. That's the problem though isn't it, without medication, we go months without a period so pinpointing when we ovulate is a nightmare. I guess if you're not particularly trying and are not on the pill it will happen eventually.

st johns wood is in london. i guess a possible coffee mn date to talk about pcos and pregnancy is out of the question.

are you on glucophage/metformin?

SJW1977 · 07/06/2008 21:04

Oh well, we can just chat on here. I don't get any emails to tell me when people have posted so have to remember to log on to check messages hence the late replies!

No, I'm just on Clomid (150mg). What's Glucophage? Is it something I'd have to get from my doc? I asked about Metformin but they said I wouldn't need it.

Just been looking into taking baby aspirin. Not sure if it's something that would help me after having a miscarriage?! Does anyone know about this, as in when you would start taking it? I think they recommend less than 81mg a day?!

I've read mixed reviews but mainly positive.

I was told that if i gained too much weight that I would be prescribed glucophage and metformin together to help me with the insulin resistance.

stay positive SJW and sorry i've never heard about the aspirin.

wikkidstepmum · 12/06/2008 18:10

It's horrible isn't it? I mcd at 12 wks a couple of years ago, due to my PCOS.

We've just started trying to conceive (my 1st, his 3rd) - I'd be grateful for any advice on treatments, drugs, etc. My GP doesn't really do "women's problems" so I'm waiting to see the much-in-demand female dr.

I can only re-iterate the importance of staying positive even though it's a hard and often heartbreaking process. Big hugs & good luck x

hi just thought id share my story as it shows there is hope wit pcos...my ovaries were covered in cysts and I also had a benign tumor on my pituitary gland (which is connected to fertility) I got married in may 06 and conceived the following month. I had no problems in pregnancy and my cysts disappeared. I had a lovly healthy baby boy(problems with delivery ended up wit c-section but thats bsides the point) Hes now 15mths and my brain tumor has also disappeared! I was not expecting to even have children at all! However I have just had a miscarriage (first one) at 6 weeks afer our first time trying for another one. This cnt b anything to do with pcos as my ovaries are now normal and have no other symptoms so it is just coincidence. I also know a few other women who have had pcos(sometimes different to mine I had cysts and few symptoms other than swelling...whereas theyve had no periods but no cysts) and have gone on to have children. Please dont give up, the docs dont have all the answers and cant explain a lot of things. I tried dianette for a few weeks but didnt like it so came off it before I conceived. I had no hope in medicine or anything I just changed my diet and tried not to think about it too much as it depressed me. PCOS can go away so pls dont give up hope x sorry for everyones loss
