Hey, I've not tried it whilst trying to conceive but as soon as I find out I'm pregnant I take it. I read in a lot of places online that it's helped people not to miscarry.

I've never tried it myself though whilst TTC.

Hey oki. Yep I've seen it all on Google and tiktok saying it help people who had miscarriages. You take it 3dpo untill u get your period and stop and than start it again at 3dpo and if pregnant carry on taking it till 36 weeks. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks last may and I just had a chemical pregnancy. So was gonna take baby aspirin but I didn't know if it will hurt me if I've not got an condition? Because I know its a blood thinner x x x

As someone who has experienced multiple miscarriages I would just take what I can.

But best advice is to check with a doctor / GP - Tommy's is great if you can get signed up with them, they specialise in miscarriages.

Hopefully someone else aswell will respond with their experience to help. ❤️

xxmichellexx1985 · 19/10/2025 14:12

Oki. So would you say just take it? I've been doctors and they didn't say anything about taking it. I've been trying nearly 2 years had tests done and they all came back fine. How do I sign up on Tommy's? What's the website? X x

I'd be nervous to tell you to just take it not knowing your medical history. I just know I do because I've heard good things about it. I can only advise you speak to your GP about whether they would advise it for you looking at your medical history.

With Tommy's you get referred by your GP if you've had 3 or more Recurrent miscarriages in a row in the UK. If you have they will refer you. I'm not sure if there's a number you can find online where they'll offer you advice even if you haven't had 3 miscarriages but it's worth you taking a look.

I have been pregnant 3 times, and each of those occasions I took baby asprin from 3dpo. The first pregnancy I stopped taking it just after getting my positive because I had read 1 negative thing about it, I miscarried within days. The second time I stopped at 12 weeks, my waters then broke days later and baby was born sleeping at 18 weeks. I am currently 30 weeks, took 75mg until 12 weeks then doubled it to 150mg, still taking it daily. Baby is kicking me as we speak.

I am a huge advocate of baby asprin! It took us 3 years to get a positive pregnancy test and that was the first cycle I tried baby asprin.

xxmichellexx1985 · 23/10/2025 19:00

Oh oki kwl. So it helped you? Does it hurt you of you not got an condition? Cuz it's a blood thinner. So sorry about your losses. I had a miscarriage last may and just had a chemical pregnancy. Was so happy when I had a positive n than I was heart broken. I been trying 2 years in January. I dno if it take me longer cuz I'm 40. I might try it this cycle cuz I just got my period. Do I carry on taking it if pregnant? Or double it? X x x x

I took it with my 2nd, if I remember rightly from 12 weeks till 36 as advised by the hospital.
My first baby was low centile with no obvious cause but due to this they advised the aspirin 75mg.
2nd baby was a rather chunker 50th centile baby.
Assume it helped 🤷‍♀️ I believe there's info on the NHS website regarding its use so may be worth checking there.

Mauvehoodie · 23/10/2025 19:11

I had 1 mc and 2 x mmc and took 150mg each evening with my next pregnancy (from positive test) and that one all worked out. I’m fairly confident it was down to the aspirin. My friend who had ivf took that and another blood thinner just as a routine thing so I figure it can’t be a bad thing.

The midwives were a bit unsure about it (which surprised me) and insisted I saw a consultant at 20 weeks approx who was also a bit baffled even though I explained why I was taking it.

xxmichellexx1985 · 23/10/2025 19:12

Kwl. Oki doki. I will go on there and have a read. I'm just worried in case it harm me cuz it's a blood thinner. Did u have a condition that u needed to take it? Or not? X x x

I was never sure if I had a sticky blood issue or not. I had an appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic just after lockdown after my 2nd MMC but that was cancelled then I got pregnant (semi accidentally) while I was trying to work out what to do next!

I have read that some people test negative for any blood clotting issue as tests are always done when not pregnant and it affects some people only when pregnant. And that the clots formed only need to be very small (so it wouldn't affect you as an adult) to cause a problem with a foetus's very tiny blood vessels. I took the view that a low dose aspirin is prescribed in a number of cases where no blood clotting issues have been diagnosed as it also reduces the risk of preeclampsia. It's also prescribed for IVF pregnancies as a precaution. So, I felt confident it was safe but do research or discuss with your GP if you're worried.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 24/10/2025 11:58

75mg when trying to conceive to keep a good and steady baseline of anti-coagulation for implantation, 150g once conceived to lower the risk of clots passing through the placenta.

I was on heparin once, that was the big guns. I lost that baby at 6 weeks, though, unknown reasons as was so very early. I bruise like a bugger, too, so even the heparin was hard to do without bruising.

They're not bloodthinners, they don't thin the blood, they reduce it's capability to clot by a small margin. It's really an anti-coagulant.

I have no known blood disorders either, it's just my history of losing babies. I'm 19 weeks along now, after half a dozen losses before 12 weeks, this feels like an absolute blessing. Am on 150g (75mgx2) daily.

All the best xx

Hi, im so sorry for your losses.

I had 3 miscarriages before two successful pregnancies. I took baby aspirin with both of the successful pregnancies. I didn’t have a known condition that I needed it for but I just researched and was willing to try anything. My midwife said as it’s such a low dose and the fact that I don’t have any other health problems/taking any medication it wouldn’t do any harm for me to try it, so I did and I had successful pregnancies.

I also took ubiquinol, high dose vitamin d and methyl folate instead of folic acid as I have the MTHFR gene mutation.

I hope it all works out for you🩷

xxmichellexx1985 · 25/10/2025 21:46

It's oki. So sorry for ur losses aswell. Kwl I think I'm gona try it this cycle. Did you take it till 38weeks pregnant? I actually took it until 20 weeks with my first pregnancy and 12 weeks with my second pregnancy.

MTHFR gene mutation is just a type of change in a gene which affects how well your body methylates some nutrients. So synthetic (man made) nutrients like folic acid cant be broken down into it’s active form to be used by my body as efficiently and this leads to a build up of a harmful chemical called homocysteine which can contribute to miscarriages.
I found out I had this from an ancestry DNA test!

I no longer take coq10, but when I did take it I just took the active form (already broken down enough to be used by the body).

definitely try the aspirin this time around and let us know how you get on! X

xxmichellexx1985 · 25/10/2025 23:01
