Underactive thyroid diagnosis

myself and my husband have recently had some fertility testing done privately after experiencing two miscarriages and 12 months of TTC with no luck. My TSH levels for my thyroid have come back at 6.2 and my fertility doctor has said I need to get this down before starting any fertility treatment. I have an appointment on Wednesday to see the GP and a letter from my fertility doctor recommending levothyroxine. What are the chances I will walk away from that appointment with the medication?

High. GP can prescribe. You want TSH around 1 (ie between 0.5-1.5) for optimal fertility. Needs to be regularly monitored both when TTC and if you get pregnant (mine was done monthly in each pregnancy). Ask for a test 4-6 weeks after you start the medication. The risk is that the GP will start you on too low a dose.
