Medical management for miscarriage

Hi,

I just wondered if anyone had been in a similar situation.

At my 9 week scan there was no heartbeat. I would now be 11 weeks and started medical management on Monday. I had the first tablet (mifepristone) on Monday morning and then went back into the hospital on Wednesday and had the 4 misoprostol pessaries at 8.30am. There wasn’t much happening so they gave me 2 more orally at 12.30pm.

I was then sent home at 6pm as there was no sign of bleeding. The cramps had begun to get a bit stronger and during the night between midnight and 4 they were quite strong and painful. There was a little bit of bleeding (a very small amount) around 4am but nothing more since then.

I was just wondering if it had taken so long with anyone else? It’s now been over 24 hours since the first set of tablets. I’m still getting cramps on and off but not really as strong.

Thanks ☺️

Hi Aquacoast 9, I don’t have any advice, I just want to say so sorry you are going through this and I hope you are ok.

I had 4 pessaries Monday, I'm now back in for another dose to see what happens this time, they told me as I'd had some bleeding to wait another 24hrs to see what happened, but as not much has I'm back in. We were told to call any time though, and I've had no other tablets from them, give them a call.

Thank you @worriedsickson19 for your kind post.

@MatildahoneyThank you for your post too. I called my local emergency gynae and they have been brilliant throughout. I’m calling again this morning.

I’ve had 3 medically (surgically) managed miscarriages- it was quick, easy and physically painless. By contrast, the pills you’re taking can make it much more drawn out and traumatic. Don’t be afraid of the surgical management option - they’ll avoid it for cost savings.

Post op it takes a while for all pregnancy hormones to clear your system

I’m sorry this is happening to you. Best wishes
