Bloods after recurrent pregnancy loss

Im going for my bloods done tomorrow after having recurrent pregnancy loss. Can people please share experiences on their results and what came next after receiving their results? I’m extremely anxious about the results coming back. Thank you in advance! I’m based in the UK.

I had a follow up meeting with a consultant who went through the results. It found I had a blood-related issue so I was referred to a haematologist & we put together a plan for future pregnancies (in my case aspirin & other meds in early pregnancy).
hope it goes well OP

Thank you for your reply. I hope that your plan has/does work for you! I just really hate the unknown and that I’m not in control of this!

In my experience - and to manage expectations - if all bloods come back normal - which chances are they will there is very little they will offer as a follow up. You’ll be packed off with a call us when you next get a BFP and we’ll scan you at 6 weeks. The NHS isn’t interested in/able to carry out more testing like karyotyping, NK cells or even sperm fragmentation (that one really annoys me as chances are it’s just as likely your partners “issue” as it is something in your body that is causing loss), some clinics are getting better at offering progesterone but many don’t and you won’t get prednisone out of them for love nor money

sorry to be a real downer - but I went into my RMC (and the minimum wait time from having a 3rd loss to seeing someone was 6 months) with so much hope thinking they would have all the answers and was quite shocked really with how little they are actually able to do/offer unless your blood work happens to throw up a specific issue like auto immune etc and I wish I’d been more realistic as it was incredibly upsetting and depressing to come away with no answers and affectively no help x

I really really appreciate your honesty! It gives me a real reality check as I am expecting abit of a “fix” kind of answer so to hear this actually brings me back down to earth. It’s a step (hopefully) in the right direction - but not the answer. We have also discussed going to a private fertility practice if we are no closer to finding out what’s going on as well as these bloods as my partner also wants to be checked too. We want to start trying in the new year so right now is just about gathering as much information as we can! Thank you again, I hope you are now abit closer to getting some answers and things working out for you x

Slightly different experience for me than what the PP has said - all my bloods came back clear but I had the tissue from my third miscarriage tested for genetic issues and it came back trisomy 15 so me and my partner were offered karotyping on the NHS. Which incidentally came back with me having both a balanced translocation and a Robertsonian translocation, although this was not the cause of my third or fourth miscarriage, which were both spontaneous genetic issues (on other words, bad luck).

if the results come back normal, it might be worth seeing if you can get a referral to a Tommy’s clinic - they are doing lots of research into miscarriage and stillbirth and can be really helpful (& understanding).

So far my bloods have all come back as normal so I went private and am now having vaginal microbiome testing, vitamin D testing and an ultrasound.

I did end up going private in the end - IVF - there was no reason for my losses - karyotyping fine and NK cells normal. So we decided to look at those first 5 days of conception and see what was happening and PGT testing did throw up rubbish quality eggs (early 30s so no real reason for that) and low quality embryos

I did have success - twins ultimately from IVF - it was a lot of trial and error to get the protocol right which made the best quality embryos for me x

@Courts0203 I have 3 beautiful DC but have had 5 chemical pregnancies and 5 early miscarriages my most recent last month at 6+4 days. I have 2 referrals 1 to the RMC at my local hospital and the other at Tommy Coventry both in November. I have had bloods done from my GP whilst I wait which were suggested by tommys miscarriage toolkit - and after a conversation with a Tommys midwife. Bloods were Full blood count and Thyroid. All results have come back within range apart from TSH which is at 23! and T4 was within range. I have been prescribed the synthetic version of the hormone and have repeat bloods in 6 weeks to check TSH levels. This has been an uphill battle so far. I am 43 years old.
