Recurrent miscarriage - Three different consecutive miscarriages

Hi All,

I’ve had 3 miscarriages this year back to back, one in May which was a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks but baby’s heart stopped at 7w5. Then I had a blighted ovum in August, thought I was just over 6 weeks and then the sak stopped at 5 and no embryo. Lastly I’ve just had a chemical straight after the blighted ovum there was no period in between.

I have no children, I’m trying for my first. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has been through the same? Or anyone that’s had 3 miscarriages but gone on to have a successful pregnancy.

My doctor has referred me to a Tommys clinic now and I’m just awaiting my appointment. Any advice in the meantime would be appreciated!

Hi. This happened to me. Four miscarriages in a row. I was referred to recurrent miscarriage where they tested my blood and found it to be a blood clotting disorder (antiphospholipid). No other symptoms except for recurrent miscarriages. I take aspirin and dalteparin. Currently 19 weeks…

So sorry for your losses.

I am currently on my 3rd miscarriage this year too. First one was a chemical in January at 4weeks 5days, Second one was a miscarriage in April at 8weeks 3days and I found out yesterday that I have had a missed miscarriage supposed to be 9weeks and 4 days but measured 7weeks 1 day with no heartbeat and no signs anything was wrong. Same as you I have no loving children. Waiting to pass naturally if not i go back next week to discuss options. We are being referred for genetic testing etc so hoping to get some answers but know its not always possible.

Keeping everything crossed our time will come and we get to hold our baby's in our arms one day.

Hi, similar story.
first time mother here trying for my first baby at 29.
2 miscarriages in 4 months.❤️‍🩹
I fell pregnant in 2 cycles from coming off birth control. I had a missed miscarriage in January at 6 weeks (ish) found at a scan. No heartbeat. Had D&C surgery. Got pregnant in 1 cycle after surgery in April and the same thing happened at 6 weeks (ish). Missed miscarriage. Had a heartbeat on the scan but 1 week later no heartbeat. Had second D&C surgery.

Has anyone had blood tests?
i have blood tests ordered from my GP in 4 days for hba1c, full blood count, antiphospholipid antibody, u&e, thyroid, vitamin D, b12 & serum folate, ferritin, coagulation screen. See if anything comes back from this.

has anyone had genetic tests?
i have also been looking at karyotype testing to check for DNA chromosome issues for myself & husband for balanced translocation. Not sure if I should try again for the 3rd time before looking into this as I know it’s rare. I think I’m just looking too much into it maybe?

Feelings of fear, worry, failure, disappointment, disbelief, diminished hope, sadness, grief, anger. It is still raw as my D&C was only 5 days ago.)
I Want to try again ASAP (after first period).

are you taking any medication?
Myself and my husbands are going to take Pregnacare Before Conception His &Hers multivitamin tablets (I was only taking folic acid and vitamin D from the day I had my first positive pregnancy test) so I want to start taking these before conception so my body is more prepared and with more vitamins - I’ll try anything! Myself and my husband are both going to take coq10 tablets too for sperm and egg quality.
I’ve read success stories taking low dose aspirin so going to take these too. Although if I haven’t bled both times will these help me anyway? Same with progesterone but I can’t get these without being prescribed. I could ask my GP when I meet with her to discuss the blood test results next week.
i would appreciate anybody who is going through/ has gone through similar. Just so nervous about our future and what our story will be. There is nothing I want more in the world than our baby and having 2 losses so recent is breaking my heart. 💔

Hi - I literally had the same miscarriages in the same order. I gave it a rest and fell pregnant naturally about two years later. He’s one now.
I took a lot of supplements and I feel that it balanced my hormones. I also did seed cycling. Sounds crazy but I really feel that it helped. This was for a second baby and I was 40 when I finally had him x

Thank you. Seed cycling - never heard of that before! It’s encouraging to hear of all the success stories, sometimes I spiral but I need to remain positive x

I had 3 miscarriages in a row. They offered us testing and took a LOT of blood from me and my husband.

A follow up appointment with the consultant was "Sorry. All the tests came up fine, just one of those things."

My next pregnancy had some early bleeding and at an early scan they pointed out a viable sac and what they pointed out may have been a twin sac that was causing the bleeding. DD was born healthy at 37 weeks and is now 25yo.

My following pregnancy was fine and straightforward and DD2 is now 21.

It's a hard time to get through. I'll never forget it.

i have no idea if it really works or what but with the seed cycling and the supplements I did go from having a type of pmdd (is tht what it’s called? Basically horrific pms where I couldn’t stop crying for about ten days before a period) to being totally normal. I thought it was perimenopause, but it wasn’t. Personally I think that the first miscarriage was just one of those things and it messed up my body and hormones which caused the others…. It took time to get my body and cycle back on track. That’s just my theory though!

QQA · 04/05/2026 11:41

I agree, it’s something that you will never forget. Looking back I can’t actually believe what a terrible time it was, and how long it went on for. 18 months of pure trauma. You’ll get through it x

4 missed miscarriages and a neonatal death at 22 weeks pregnant for me. After the third loss which came back from testing as trisomy 15, me and my partner had karotyping done which showed I have not one but 2 different chromosome translocations which is very rare. This didn't cause my third or fourth miscarriage (random genetic issues) or the 5th loss of our little girl (incompetent cervix leading to infection - I was turning septic so they had to induce to save me).

We're now doing IVF for genetic testing reasons, not going well so far unfortunately, sadly I also have a low AMH so not getting heaps of embryos and they're all coming back abnormal, but we go on. It's a rough road for sure.
