Advice on testing or clinics for recurrent miscarriages when all standard tests are normal

Hi all,

I’m currently going through my 6th miscarriage which sadly was of twins so I’ve lost 7 babies in 3yrs. I am at a total loss. My miscarriage clinic has referred us for IVF and we had one consult before finding out about this pregnancy so that is on hold. Both the miscarriage clinic and IVF clinics had done the normal miscarriage blood panels all of which are normal.
However I can’t help but feel it is something to do with me and my immunity. I keep loosing babies around the 5-6week mark. I’m worried IVF would also fail due to the underlying cause still not being found.
I’m on the waiting list for the Warwick implantation clinic and waiting a referral to Liverpool Women’s miscarriage clinic, although the referral was made in January so I’m not sure how long I’m going to be waiting for that.
I’m just looking for advice on any clinics or testing I should ask for? I’m happy to travel the country but live in North Wales. I should add this time I was on a high dose of progesterone (x3 Cyclogest a day) and low dose asprin (75mg) which sadly hasn’t made a difference.

I’ve tried to Google and found a few clinics around London but I’m a bit overwhelmed with all the testing but I guess I book an appointment and they advise which tests? I just looked at all the testing and all the costs and it just really adds up and I sadly dont have loads of savings to spend on it all

My husband is ready to give up but it’s all a bit raw at the minute. But I can’t help but want to find answers as there’s a part of me that feels there’s got to be something which hopefully I can be treated for to finally bring a baby home.

Thanks as always for reading x

Just popping on thread to empathise. I had 3 miscarriages one at 16 weeks, one at 13 weeks and one at 11 weeks and I had various blood tests but no one could tell me why. Not knowing why is the hardest thing. When I miscarried at 16 weeks I had bed rest from 11 weeks to 14 weeks and thought that had made a difference but then I still lost my baby only further along. In retrospect I wished I'd just stayed on bed rest and not went back to work. You have lost more babies so must feel worse. Could you try bed rest up to 13 weeks?

Thank you so much and I’m so so sorry to hear of your losses. You are so right the not knowing is so difficult and I’m finding it such a minefield just trying to find some answers. With this pregnancy it fell when I was on annual leave so I only worked a week I think and have mainly been resting so I’m not sure if that would make a difference in my case sadly😓
I’m so sorry again to hear of your losses and not being given any answers, it’s really heartbreaking xx

Hi OP, so so sorry to hear about your losses. I have lost two and can't imagine going through seven losses. Has any genetic testing been done on the tissues?

The IVF clinic will do the standard tests but I doubt they will do the immune tests, most clinics don't especially when NHS funded. Warwick Implantation Clinic will probably do them. Did they tell you how long you'll have to wait? If it is NHS funded then I'd wait for them before going private as it will be costly.

If you do choose to get them done privately I would recommend Dr Sami at Plan Your Baby. You can have an online consultation and he will recommend tests and his team will organise them for you. You will have a follow up appointment when your results are ready.
