Pregnancy after placental abruption TW BABY LOSS

My son was born at 15 weeks. The week before this, I had a large bleed and was told that there was a tear in my placenta and a large blood clot next to it; a scan showed my baby was fine at this point. I was advised to 'take it easy' but the doctor and midwives didn't seem too concerned.

I had more pains and bleeding a week later and was told that he was going to be born and they couldn't stop it. My waters didn't break so I don't think I had an infection. I'm assuming that my placenta came away some more but it could be up to six months before I get answers.

I was told that my next pregnancy would be under fetal medicine and I would have additional monitoring. Before this pregnancy, I had a missed miscarriage at eight weeks and two years ago a completely uncomplicated pregnancy that gave me my daughter.

For anyone who has sadly had a similar experience, what did the additional monitoring look like in your next pregnancy?

Hello I hope you don’t mind me messaging ? I lost my baby girl Hallie at 35 weeks a month ago on Saturday ! I had a huge placenta abruption and nearly died myself. I just wondered how you were getting on ?? Have you fallen pregnant again and how is your care with the NHS following a stillbirth? I am so sorry that happened to you xxx

@Meg310532 I am so sorry. That sounds just horrendous. I hope you have some support IRL.

My loss was in July so I'm still waiting to be given my NHS appointment. I think we are going to start trying again next month though after some private testing is complete.

My bereavement midwife told me that there is no official clinic or policy for pregnancy after loss at my hospital so when I fall pregnant again I need to contact her and she will arrange a scan at eight weeks for me. The thought of having to advocate for extra scans throughout my pregnancy is really stressful so we are considering having private monitoring throughout the pregnancy.

@bk1981 I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost our little girl Ava due to an infection that was threatening my life earlier this month at 22 weeks. I was told that at my appointment with the consultant (which will be in November) we can make a plan for future pregnancies including additional scans and monitoring. It's hard but don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and what you need. For example, because mine was due to infection (and I had no outward signs of being ill) I want to ask for proactive monitoring for infection, which is definitely not something they usually do but I'll still be pushing hard for it!

@Meg310532 I definitely will advocate for myself it's just the thought of it that's hard when I know I'm going to be so anxious and scared. I also want to ask for some kind of infection monitoring as my blood test results showed infection and inflammation but I also had no signs of being unwell.
