Second Miscarriage in 8 months

Hello everyone,

I'm currently experiencing a missed miscarriage at 9+3. This is the second miscarriage I have had in 8 months.

My husband and I have been trying for our second baby for the last two years after having our first born naturally back in 2021. All our tests came back clear and we were told to just keep trying with no input.

I just wondered if anyone had any success stories for trying again after a loss, I won't receive another scan for a week where they will then confirm the miscarriage. The midwife told us we would be referred for support as it was our second loss but since then I have read conflicting things to say you have to had 3 losses to be referred to the clinic.

For people who were prescribed progesterone pessaries, did you ask for these pre pregnancy or once you had conceived again?

Any advice would be lovely to read or any success stories of conceiving after multiple losses.

Thank you

xx

Sorry you’re going through this. I had 3 MC in a year-ish, of those 2 MMC. I was referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic but it’s been 7 months and I haven’t heard anything yet. They took bloods and did genetic testing on the last pregnancy I had (Jan) but no results yet, the consultant is on long term sick and it was already a 6 month wait so I dread to think how long it will be when he returns.

I think the number of losses before you can get help is area dependent and also depends on your age etc possibly.. I hope the midwife is correct and you can start that process now because it’s been quite lengthy and I haven’t even had the actual appointment yet just multiple rounds of bloods taken.

However in the meantime I have become pregnant again. After the last miscarriage I read it starts with the egg. I found it quite overwhelming because it lists a lot of lifestyle changes to make which felt like a huge thing at the time so I’m not necessarily recommending it but a lot of people do. The main things I did was introduce Co enzyme Q10 for egg quality, stuck to a mainly low inflammatory/med diet (so did DH for his main meals) and tried to limit use of plastic containers where possible. I am currently 12 weeks and nervously awaiting my scan on Friday but this is the furthest I’ve got so I am hopeful 🤞🏼

I have been on progesterone since 6 weeks after a positive scan but I’ve seen others under fertility clinics say they had theirs before that so it might differ depending on circumstances. I have had progesterone in other pregnancies as well but they always say it won’t hurt and could help so it’s worth it I think.

Look after yourself OP, I hope you get a positive outcome soon x

Congratulations on your pregnancy, sending you all the love and luck in the world for your scan.

Thank you so much, Do you recommend any Q10 supplements? Or are they all the same? X

Thank you 🙏

To be honest I don’t remember the ins and outs of the reading I had done at the time but I think if I’m remembering correctly ubiquinol is more absorbable, I got these from Amazon as the ones recommended in the book were American and very expensive to get in the UK. I was also taking folic acid (recommended by EPU) and vitamin D because I’m ginger so I avoid direct sunlight 😅 both of those were just cheaper ones you can pick up in the supermarket
