Chat gpt diagnosed me with ashermans

Hi, just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar and turned out ok. I had a d and c exactly 3 months ago, my periods used to be 2 days of normal bleeding then a couple of days on and off. Since the d and c I've had one day of bleeding, then no bleeding then the next day a small amount, then nothing again for about 24 hrs, followed by another small amount of bleeding for a hr or so. I told chat gpt everything that's happened and it has diagnosed me as almost certainly having ashermans syndrome 🙈 currently waiting for the NHS but I'm crippled with anxiety. I am ovulating as I've tested. My cramps used to be quite bad but now they're barely noticeable.

I had really erratic bleeding after MCs and an ectopic, AI can't diagnose you, honestly. Fingers crossed this is just your body recovering. I'm sure much more knowledgable people will reassure you and hope it's not long till you can be seen.

Thank you x

Another person whose periods went haywire after each miscarriage. It takes time for the body to recover. Miscarriage leaves a wound in your uterus and it takes time to heal, that’s partly why recurrent miscarriage clinics advise you to have a period in between- it can take a few weeks depending on how far along you were.

I put my symptoms into chat GPT just now. Ashermans was also suggested as a cause however I know the actual cause was APS. Wait and see what the tests show. While chat GPT is useful it’s not always right x

I had someone staying with me recently who relied on ChatGPT for everything. She told me at least 3 things she swore were definitely true because it had told her so. I was able to show her the proof that it had given completely erroneous answers.

Chat GPT is a guessing machine OP, not a doctor. It prioritises plausible sounding language over actual knowledge, because that's how it is constructed

I was just reading about someone who thought they'd save money on a lawyer and used chat GPT to write their defence for the court case. They lost , expensively, because the advice sounded good but was plain wrong.

PrincessAnne5Eva · 01/07/2025 11:57

I work in AI. Chat GPT isn't programmed properly with medical advice and shouldn't be giving it out. It's only got the same knowledge as Dr Google, it just presents the info more conversationally (and we all know the issues with Dr Google). I hope that reassures you OP.

Thanks for the reassurance! My periods haven't really gone haywire they're when they're supposed to be, just about 5 hours long , is this what yours where like? I've had three periods since. Scared to TTC again now and my ovulation is due on a couple of days but I don't know if it's best to skip trying this cycle just Incase x

Before my miscarriage (and surgery for retained products) my periods were heavy and 5 days long, so heavy for 2ish days and then medium/light for the remaining 3.

My miscarriage was in 2022 so here’s what happened:

My first two periods after the surgery were incredibly light, so light that I was very worried. I would say 1-2 days of the lightest bleeding ever. It hardly counted as a period really. I started tracking ovulation, I thought maybe my lining wasn’t shedding. I conceived on cycle three (third month since the surgery) and that resulted in my son. He’s now two. After I had him my periods reset back to the usual heavy flow. I have since concieved again and that all went fine.

Im adding this for positivity. I remember worrying about my very light periods but after a few months I conceived anyway. I think my body just needed a few months to get back on track. I hope it all goes well, and don’t trust AI for a diagnosis.

@Blue2020 thanks for the reassurance 😊 your period situation sounds exactly like mine, hopefully it's just my body taking a while to get back to how it was, but I'll still keep on at my gp for tests to be safe x

Just FYI I had very light, mostly pain free periods all my life - never once stained trousers or bed sheets, just a pant liner was enough. Normally lasted 3 or 4 days. I have 4 children from 8 pregnancies (2 chemicals, 2 first trimester losses) and never took more than 2 months to conceive.

WonderingWanda · 05/07/2025 13:10

Sorry for your loss. It's really normal for periods to go a bit haywire after a mc. Chat gpt is really not where you should be getting medical advice from. For what it's worth I had never heard of Ashermans and just did some reading and it doesn't sound anything like the symptoms you describe.

Cerialkiller · 05/07/2025 13:20

My periods changed permanently after stopping the contraceptive pill. Used to be very heavy and after stopping (to try to conceive) they were a shorter cycle 24 days not 26 and much much lighter. I was concerned and googled it of course and got a lot of worrying advice about thinning womb lining and that making it harder to concieve.

I went to the Dr to talk about it who wasn't concerned at all, said it was too soon to worry about infertility and everything sounded normal. Sometime your period changes because of age or hormones or other innocent factors.

I was pregnant two weeks later and concieve my second in a similar timeframe (4th cycle)
