Pregnant or miscarriage?

Hi,

I'm posting for a bit of advice. I seem to be getting know where fast with medical professionals.

I'm 8 days late on my period. I did a test on 5 days late, this was negative. I did x2 clear blue tests on day 6 and they were both positive. I tested with an Asda test on day 7, and it said negative. I've taken another clearblue this morning which is positive. I don't know if I'm looking at it too hard but I'm not sure if the line is fainter than it was before? The first day of my last period was 19th March, and predicted ovulation 4th April. We didn't have intercourse around this date though. This occurred around a week later.
So my question is, am I having a chemical pregnancy? I've yet to have any blood. And I'm not sure if symptoms have totally stopped or I'm to conscious of it all and imagining. My last pregnancy was a chemical one. I'm worried it's happening again.

Chemical pregnancy is such an awful term, why can’t people just say ‘very early miscarriage’ as that’s what it is. Yes you are most likely pregnant if your test was positive, despite previous negative test but no one can say if the pregnancy will continue. Miscarriage is very common at the very early stages of an embryonic development. Sorry you’ll just have to wait and see, the risk of miscarriage reduces significantly each day that goes by. The sensitivity of pregnancy tests can be different, I.e. the hormone level they are designed to pick up, this is usually stated on the packet or can find this info online.

If you think your conception date is a week later it could be that you are in very early stages of pregnancy and the line will become darker with time. It doesn’t mean you are having a chemical pregnancy. I know it’s hard to resist but I’d give it a few days and retest.

Were the clear blue tests the digital ones? I wouldn’t trust them if they were just the line ones. I would get the red dye tests or a digital and try again in a few days. I have had awful false positives with clear blue (as have many people here), I can’t believe they are still allowed to sell them.

How do you know they were false positives (very unlikely) and not just went onto have a very early miscarriage. The tests with the very high sensitivities showed up me being pregnant earliest with all of my ongoing (resulting in babies) pregnancies, even while the less sensitive tests were showing negative. I’ve never had even a hint of a line or so called evap line when I hadn’t been pregnant, same with friends

You wouldn’t have been 5 days late if you got a negative and then a positive the day after. You probably ovulated later than you thought. It sounds like you’ve had a chemical pregnancy which is really common. I was 6 weeks pregnant when I had a loss. I may have had more chemicals but not noticed. I don’t think doctors get involved unless it’s a late term miscarriage.

I agree, you cannot have got pregnant from ovulating around the 4th then having intercourse a week later, the egg can only be fertilised 12-24 hours after ovulation, it sounds like must of ovulated later which is why the less sensitive tests were still coming up negative
