Feeling Dreadful after miscarriage

I have suffered 2 miscarriages. I had one in 2021 and then conceived my little boy (now 2.5) immediately afterward, i had no period inbetween. We then started trying for baby no.2 in May 2024 and i suffered a miscarriage in November, both were missed miscarriages. Since November i have felt awful, i keep getting waves of Exhaustion, thirstiness, and extremely dry skin on my face, i must be applying moisturiser 20+ times a day. my cycles are irregular, but each cycle on One day i wake up with a really swollen face, particularly around my eyes, with really sore dry itchy skin. I have been back and forth to the doctor to have tests as with the tiredness and thirst i was worried i had diabetes, but everything has been ruled out. After the third visit i mentioned id had a miscarriage and that the symptoms had come on after suffering my second one. He tested me for some auto immune conditions but said he wouldnt test my hormones because they can be out of level for 6 months after a miscarriage. i have some indicators for APS but i have to have another blood test in a few weeks to confirm which could explain the miscarriages. I don't think that i am ovulating and think that i am sufferering from a hormone imbalance. As it will be a year next month that we started trying, will my doctor refer me for fertility tests if i had a miscarriage during that year? or do i have to wait a year from my miscarriage?
I'm not sure why i'm making this post but i am beginning to become very despondent about being able to conceive again

I'm so sorry about your miscarriages OP. I had two in between my first and second child and it was very hard. It took me a long time to recover from the first (which happened at 12.5 weeks, so was quite physically demanding), and my hormones certainly did not return to normal for several months. I think you should definitely press for tests given that you don't think you're ovulating and some of your symptoms are also indicative of thyroid issues which (as you probably know) can cause both infertility and also miscarriages. I hope you get some answers soon. Good luck.

Thank you - i am finding this incredibly difficult compared with my first one. My Doctor did test for my thyroid, which he said was normal my TSH was 3 but i understand that there are more tests to have than just TSH to diagnose. Thak you for taking the time to respond

Your symptoms made me think of hypothyroidism OP, and this can be involved in miscarriage as well. There were certain levels I needed to maintain during pregnancy (ie I took more thyroxine than I normally do). You don't want to be feeling this way and looking after your little boy. It sounds very hard.

TSH is a weird one. The NHS has quite a high threshold for diagnosing hypothyroidism. Would you consider taking herbal supplements? I also had TSH levels at the high end of normal when I was trying to conceive, and I found that taking Agnus castus (vitex) in a relatively low dose (I think I took 80mg daily to start with) made a huge difference to my cycle (much more fertile cervical mucus, longer interval between start of period and ovulation -- oh, and pregnancy, twice). Studies have shown that AC influences both the thyroid and the pituitary, and there is evidence that it improves thyroid function. Might be worth a try.
