Miscarriage or false positive?

Five days ago I did a pregnancy test. My period was 9 days late which is extremely unusual for me, I was feeling slightly sick and fatigued. The test was positive; a faint second line but there were definitely two lines. I did this test in the evening so figured this was probably why it was faint, and decided I would do another in the morning. The following morning came round and I did another test. This was also positive, clearly two lines but again it was fainter than I expected. I have had two children so I have done several pregnancy tests, and the results just seemed fainter than my previous ones had ever been.

Later in the afternoon I had very mild cramping, went to the toilet and realised I was spotting. It was a very small amount so I wasn’t too concerned, but by the next morning this massively increased to what would be considered a heavy period. This has continued up until now. I have just done a test and this is now coming up as negative.

Does this sound like my period was just extremely late, or could it be a miscarriage? And if it is a miscarriage, am I supposed to go to the doctors or anything to make sure everything’s okay or just let nature take its course and do nothing? If it was just one test that was positive I’d just assume it was a false positive, but the fact it was two at two separate times is making me think it can’t be.

I have attached pictures of the positive tests for reference so you can see how faint the lines were.

@PinkProsecco1 So sorry you are experiencing this. It may well be a Chemical pregnancy which would account for the lateness of your period and the faint pregnancy test positive. You should be fine to just let the bleeding pass. You dont need to see a doctor unless you feel you need to. You may find your next cycle is a little longer than usual as your body makes hormonal changes.
