Baby aspirin advice

Hi. Had a MC at 5 weeks and am now looking to do another FET in a few weeks. I have read a lot about the potential of baby aspirin helping after a miscarriage. Anyone had any positive experiences of taking it?

I had 4 miscarriages and on my 5th successful pregnancy I took 150mg of aspirin from ovulation up until the day he was born at 35+5. I also took progesterone

Definitely do it. Reduces risk if miscarriage

There is no such thing as baby aspirin. Aspirin shouldn't be given to children under 16.
If you are going to take aspirin for this indication get it prescribed appropriately so you are taking the correct dose for your personal situation.

Hahaha ha! You're wrong. Baby aspirin is what you call a small dose, to take when ttc to lower the risk of miscarriage. Don't comment on posts you know nothing about.

I did IVF OP, baby aspirin was advised by IVF doctors and midwives.

Get the 75mg tablets in a yellow box.

It’s not baby aspirin - it’s low dose aspirin. It should be prescribed for appropriate pregnant patients as the pharmacists should only sell for licensed indications. Use in pregnancy is not licensed but is absolutely included in national guidance for patients with certain risks or clinical presentations.

TooManyNiblings · 31/03/2025 11:30

I'm not wrong, baby aspirin is not a thing, you are talking about a 75mg aspirin which is a low dose aspirin. It's NOT a baby aspirin. That name is old-fashioned and misleading. The low dose is most commonly used for cardiac indications.
Edited to add thanks to @Chrismaslights

I wouldn’t take any medication relating to pregnancy unless told to by medical professional.

speak to your GP or midwife

even if others have been advised to - you don’t know their medical history and they don’t know yours

Than you everyone. I’m sorry if the terminology was outdated, this is all very new and emotive. I was talking about a low dose of aspirin for myself, not for a baby.
I had read some articles about it, so was curious to find out more from people. The miscarriage was traumatic, so wanting to investigate everything that could possibly help prevent it in future. We are going through IVF and only have two embryos left.

@Isittime1984 I know this post is a little older but how did you get on? I've just had my second FET and it's ended in another early miscarriage. Hope everything worked out xx

Isittime1984 · 11/08/2025 14:27

@waitingforourmiracle I’m so sorry to hear that.
I am just about to do my last embryo and am going to try the aspirin with this last one, so can deffo report back afterwards

Talk to your doctors before you do this. I was prescribed a blood thinning injection (Arovi I think) as part of my FET protocol and taking aspirin on top of that is not indicated as it would increase the same effect.

I was weaned of the injections at 12 weeks and was put on 150mg of aspirin to continue to 38 weeks.

I do think having a blood thinner has good evidence in a FET situation, but talk to your team about including it in your protocol rather than self medicating.

Best of luck with your next transfer.
