Recurrent miscarriage nhs criteria

Hi wondering as per nhs criteria for recurrent miscarriages do they count chemical pregnancies? I have had two MMC and two chemical pregnancies between these MMC but they are telling me the two chemicals do not count and I don’t met the criteria yet for referral.

No, usually it does need to be 3 miscarriages. The medical definition of a miscarriage being only possible once pregnancy confirmed, and that being only once the period is late/missed.
Sorry for your losses.

Chemicals don't count.
Also I'd double check with your GP as mine wouldn't refer me unless the mcs were consecutive also.

I came on to ask similar.
I’m just having my second chemical and I also had a 7/8 week mc in dec.
Ive booked a appointment at the gp for next week can’t hurt to see what they’ll say, I won’t expect much though

After having one MMC followed by one chemical pregnancy (started bleeding at 5+something - pregnancy had been confirmed by me using HPTs but not by anyone medical), I was referred to gynaecology (not recurrent miscarriage clinic) for investigation into potential fibroids (as I'd had these in my first pregnancy but never had any follow up). The gynaecology consultant obviously reviewed my history and the chemical pregnancy seemed to be accepted as a miscarriage. The consultant said he might as well do the recurrent miscarriage investigations while I was there, even though I'd only had two, not three. I think it's worth a conversation with your GP as someone may be willing to look into this - it's worth emphasising that you've had four pregnancy losses now. So sorry for your situation, and wishing you the best of luck going forward.

Sorry, just reread and it sounds like you might have already requested a referral. I wonder if you could have anything done privately if that's financially viable. It seems horribly unfair that they won't look into your situation.
