I am requiring treatment for a heartbreaking miscarriage of about 7 weeks.
I’m currently solo parenting (have a 2.5yo) and have limited support.
My options are medical management tablets or the surgical treatment. I have been bleeding for about a week (since I found out) and I need to be well to travel in 3 weeks.

Medical management -
This would be better to be at home but scared for the pain and it being a lengthier process, and how to know if it’s fully worked.

Surgical management-
I have some ongoing traumatic memories from the emergency c-section with my DS and so I’m scared for this.
Also concerned about having this after a very rushed tough c-section 2yrs ago and if there would be any further impacts / scarring / affects on future fertility.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

So sorry you’re going through this. I’ve had both methods twice and would personally say surgical management for just getting it sorted and less chance of retained products. I had GA both times for surgery so if you were to have that you would need childcare for a full day as a minimum as whilst the procedure itself is quick it’s a long day overall. In terms of the worry about surgery following emergency c-section it will be completely different as it’ll be scheduled and calm, but in terms of your other question definitely speak to the hospital.
Hope you’re doing ok, make the most of any support you have, and ultimately go with your gut on which method will work best for you, take care x

I agree. I had a surgical tfmr before xmas and it was quick and easy. Mentally I struggled but the team really looked after me. Bleeding slowed down within a couple of days, and stopped completely within a week.

Personally would go medical if you feel psychologically this is manageable for you. Often you can take the first tablets then go home and be with your family while things take their course. I don't like the idea of anaesthetic and being pulled about, but im also ok with seeing what comes away etc so that is different for everyone.
