Hello,

I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriages, I’m also currently going through my 5th miscarriage so can imagine your pain.

I’m currently with Tommy’s and so far have had a good experience with them.

My GP referred me and Tommy’s got in contact and booked me in for a consultation which led to more tests.

Tommy’s have been more responsive than my local hospital’s RMC and they carried out more tests than the NHS. I also got the results faster and they talked me through the results thoroughly.

I contacted them today after my confirmed miscarriage and they’ve already booked me in for another call to talk through next steps next week.

I hope you also have a good experience with them

@CWC thank you soo much for your response. And sorry to hear you are going through all this.

how long did it take you to get your first appointment?

xx

@Gemrad

It took around 6 months from being referred to get my first appointment.

After that everything moved a bit quicker. I had tests booked in for a month after my first meeting, and then a follow up meeting booked for a month after my tests to go through the results. Xx

@CWC thank you for this, which hospital are you at with Tommys? Have they found the source of the miscarriages? X

@Gemrad
I’m with St Mary’s in London. How about you?

Not yet, sadly. My first round of tests (lots of bloods and an internal scan) all came back normal and so they’re now looking to get me booked in for a HSG scan where they use dye to examine the uterus and fallopian tubes.

They said they’ll also take a biopsy to check my lining for signs of endometriosis.

Hopefully I’ll have some answers after the next set of tests xx

@CWC i’ll be under B’ham when I get my appointment as it’s the closet to me.

i hope you get some answers soon, it’s heartbreaking isn’t it that your body just fails all the time

@Gemrad Thank you, I hope you get your appointment and some answers soon too.

It’s been awful. I don’t think it’s something anyone can truly understand unless they’ve been through it themselves.

I have to keep reminding myself that most people do get their babies in the end, so hopefully that’ll be the case for the both of us x

I've been seen by Tommy's in Coventry for my last successful pregnancy! They were great - my DD is 3 years in a few weeks.

It took about 6-8 months from referral to appointment (I was referred in Oct 2020 saw them in June 2021). Quicker than being seen at my local hospital clinic.
They contacted my doctor to get a load of tests done prior to my first appointment - blood tests mainly. I think this was because Covid had caused a backlog of seeing people.
First appointment for me was a telephone appointment to gather background information. My referral was for a still birth followed by 2 MMCs (I also had another MMC while I was on the referral list) so there was alot of information to go through. Review of the tests they had the doctor complete
As I was actively still TTC they got me to take a pregnancy test. Turns out it was positive.
They had me straight in for a prescription for progesterone and a scan. My MMCs never got passed 6 weeks so they through it was a hormone shortage that might be causing them.
I was seen by them every 4 weeks I think from that point until at least 20/24 weeks (mine was longer than normal due to the reasons for my still birth)

After that I didnt hear from them until DD was a few months old asking for some information for research purposes. Things like any other pregnancy issues, what was labour like, post recovery etc.

I think we got lucky with what my issue was first time so we didn't have to go down any route of testing MMC's to find the cause etc. If I hadn't been pregnant so quickly then the plan was to look at running some genetic tests due to the issues to do with my still birth.

Sending you hugs and love for you going through the process

@CWC oh I really pray for us that we do. I often resent that some people don’t want children and catch all the time and then people like us that desperately want a child and will do anything to get them but it’s just such a battle

@Gemrad
The world does feel so unfair sometimes.

I often blame myself for the miscarriages - like maybe I ate something I shouldn’t have, or exercised too much, or had a shower that was too hot. And then I think of those people who didn’t realise they’re pregnant until they’re 5+ months and think of all the times they must’ve done those things and their babies are fine. So even though it’s easy to resent them, sometimes they bring me some peace too.

Hopefully our time will come and we’ll just love and appreciate our babies even more after fighting so hard for them

Gemrad · 03/01/2025 16:50

@CWC absolutely no one realises what you go through when this all happenss

fingers crossed for us both
