TTC after recurrent miscarriage and booking a holiday

We are currently TTC after several losses and under a recurrent miscarriage clinic. For the past couple of years we haven’t booked any holidays ‘just in case’ I’m pregnant, but I either haven’t been or the pregnancy hasn’t worked out, which means we haven’t been away for ages.

We’ve now got to the ‘fuck it, let’s just book something’ point as it’s getting too depressing putting our lives on hold. BUT if I were to get pregnant I would not want to go abroad at all due to potential complications/general anxiety of something going wrong.

WIBU to book a holiday and keep TTC and hope if I do fall pregnant we could find a way round it with insurance?

Definitely book the holiday, get insurance just in case or do a package holiday (easy jet etc), you can normally cancel quite close to the date and rearrange when more suitable!

Absolutely book the holiday! You won't mind cancelling if you're pregnant. And if not you need it. I'd get good insurance, and just book a cheapy one you can afford to lose.

Thanks both - would insurance cover it though if I just don’t want to go due to being pregnant? If it comes to it I could maybe ask the clinic if they’ll write a letter…

Could you not stop trying and go on a holiday when you can then try again when back. Just my opinion, otherwise look at insurance companies see if they cover high risk pregnancy's

I had to cancel a holiday this year but it was due to a pregnancy complication and I had to get a letter and medical form filled out by my GP. You can't cancel just for being pregnant and changing your mind, there has to be a reason which means you're unfit to travel or fly.
I would still book a holiday as life has to go on but definitely keep this in mind. X

If you're not able to go because of complications then decent insurance may cover it. If you are complication free then decent insurance would cover any care you did you unexpectedly abroad so still worth it just in case you did want to go.

Thanks all, have booked today and paid extra so that can cancel up to 28 days before and just lose the deposit of around £200 if we need to!

So pleased you've booked, and fingers crossed you need to cancel 🍼 x

I used to plan mini breaks when TTC and I knew I'd be ovulating- mainly a 1-2 in the UK. If travelled abroad, I just avoided zika prone countries and always see a travel health Dr/Nurse incase you need vaccines before travel.
