Testing positive 3.5w after miso

Sadly lost IVF twins at 7w in a MMC and took mife/miso 3.5 weeks ago. My local EPU asked me to test 3 weeks later but with Christmas I've just tested today and it's still positive! Called the EPU and they just said oh it could be a new pregnancy (we tried for YEARS and only started having sex again a week ago, so surely it's not). Is this a sure sign of retained tissue or maybe just my hormones taking a while to drop, given it was twins? They've agreed to scan me on Monday. I could really do without this dragging on even longer, it's been awful to deal with over Xmas.

Sorry for your loss 😪 I've had 2 mmc and both times it took 8 weeks for tests to go negative. Good idea to check for retained tissue but it can just take a long time for some people. Best of luck going forward. Xx

@2magpie thank you for your reply 💛 so sorry to hear you've been through this twice. That's helpful to know it can take more time, hopefully that's the case and I don't need any further 'management'.

I miscarried on 6th December so it's totally understand how hard Christmas as been as i finally stopped bleeding Boxing day although that feels bitter sweet 😅 I'm starting to get faint ones now but I'm wondering if yours could still be high due to it being twins. Always worth getting checked though :)

Ah I'm sorry, I totally get that. I had stopped but keep getting random tiny bleeds, so frustrating. My sheets are permanently in the wash! It's a relief to hear you're still getting faint tests. I did wonder with the twins whether my HCG was through the roof and has a long way to come down. I certainly felt sick and tired enough to reflect that. I guess we'll find out more tomorrow 🤞🏼 sending lots of love to you for the NY!

Turns out my lining is still thick, but no other visible pregnancy tissue. They said I can hopefully wait for this to go on my next period, or I may need another dose of Miso. Really hope it goes on its own soon, ready to put this nightmare behind me.

I am experiencing same thing with positive tests. I lost my daughter at almost 18 weeks nearly a month ago. Are the tests you are using early response/sensitive ones? Mine are easy at home early and boots early so wondering if this is why they are still picking up very low amounts of HCG. Had 2 negatives with just standard pregnancy tests.

Tiredtoddlerma · 01/01/2025 21:10

Hi @JadeL7. So sorry to hear of your loss. No I bought a pretty cheap test from Sainsbury's - their own brand, not a first response or anything. I was expecting a negative so I just thought I'll buy whatever but the line is still quite strong 🤦🏼‍♀️

Hey ladies, sorry for your losses first and foremost.

My baby stopped growing at 6 weeks and it was detected pretty soon after as I had an early scan.

I wondered if any of you had tested early on after your MC? I had an MVA 10 days ago and had spotting for 5 days after, 7 days after I had red blood and a few clots passed, today it seems to have stopped. I have done a test and it’s still blaring positive (equal to test line using easy at home). I know peoples hormones can lower at different levels just didn’t expect such an obvious positive. In 11 days I have to check officially based on EPU guidelines but struggling to see how it could decline to negative in that time if nothing has really changed in 10 days.

Moosey898 · 17/01/2025 16:36

@KT199 for me I had a clear positive at 2 weeks post surgery, complete negative at 3 weeks post surgery x

Tiredtoddlerma · 17/01/2025 18:25

@KT199 I've only just started testing negative and am still awaiting a period although I didn't test earlier than the post above, I think some people can take a while longer for the hormones to reduce. Hope you're ok!
