Waiting for miscarriage

Hi all. I am currently waiting for my third miscarriage but I’m not quite sure if it has fully happened yet. I was 8 weeks pregnant, but ten days ago I had relatively heavy bleeding and cramping - it filled a pad over a few hours with a couple of clots. A scan showed an empty and collapsed gestational sac. I don’t think it had developed past 6 weeks. I had another night of quite heavy bleeding but then it tailed off to a normal period like flow and now nothing at all. My worry is that the worst yet to come as I think (from reading other posts on here) that I’d notice if had passed the sac? The cramping wasn’t very painful and I didn’t have large clots after the scan so I’m worried it’s still in there. I’ve had an unsuccessful MVA before and two ERPCs so my Dr preferred to see it it happened naturally as I had started bleeding….but now he’s away until the 10th (I’m under the care of a recurrent miscarriage consultant) and due to previous experiences I cannot face EPU again. Has anyone else had a miscarriage that resolved itself so quickly without a noticeable sac-or one that occurred weeks after an incident of heavy bleeding? The waiting is exhausting, especially putting on a cheery face over Christmas….I’m so sorry to anyone else who has been through this, it really is exhausting. I am lucky to have two DCs to keep my mind busy but it is still just horrendous once they are in bed and I think about what the next couple of weeks may have in store. Also reading some of the accounts about how quickly they can occur im slightly nervous about going back to work (that and the fact I start crying at anything at the moment). Thank you xx

Hi. I'm so sorry you're going through this. I've had two miscarriages. The first I didn't see the sac but there was an awful lot of blood and clots and it was very painful. I was warned if there is a bad smell to contact the midwife as you can develop an infection that can turn into sepsis. This happened to me and I was put on some very strong antibiotics. The second one I did see the sac but there was hardly any blood and very little pain. If you're not satisfied that you've passed the sac or you notice a bad smell I would get onto your surgery again and I wouldn't wait until the 10th.
